Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Ditto! this will be the first VCD that I buy. For the $70 is a steal at how detailed this thing is!

Yeah, it is very detailed, so while I could wish it was less expensive, $70 isn't way over priced or anything.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Looking for some info on the RAH figure I found a site taking preorders. I'm not sure how reliable their info is, but they have the release date as October. And the price is around $150.

Awesome news Batty. Thanks for the update. This is definately a must have figure for me!

Now I'm going back downstairs to finish Blade Runner on my new Blu Ray player! In honor of you Batty...
:D

I was just playing with my Batty figure... not in honor of you, but what the heck :lol

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Cute VCD, but with more REAL Aliens coming, gotta pass. Cool though.
can somebody here explain to me the appeal of the Super Deformed/Kubrick/VCD figures?

what's the rationality behind someone buying this

instead of this?

Firstly, I don't think anyone's ever bought a VCD instead of a regular figure, and secondly, people just have interest in eccentric pieces, myself included.

Do we know if this is going to be taller than 12" yet??? That is THE deciding factor for me. I'm not keen to spend $150+ on it if it's not going to display well with my other 1/6 ALIENS.

Believe it or not, some people enjoy creative or artistic interpretations of the source material that aren't just attempts to recreate the original in a smaller scale. Realism and accurate sculpting have their place, but they can get boring after a while (and of course when you try to be accurate in every detail, even small differences stick out like a sore thumb -- just look at the difficulty many companies have capturing human likenesses). While the RAH Alien looks nice, and may be the most accurate figure to date, to me there's not much to separate it from the dozens and dozens of Alien figures that have come in the past. But I find something like the VCD or Kubrick versions to be fresh and original, and I like to see how they fit an existing design into a new style (who would have thought that you could make a LEGO-style figure of the Alien, for example?)

I agree with Maulfan and Icruise. It's nice to see something different. It's not that people don't appreciate an accurate sculpt. But there is always room for something "different". If all Alien and Predator sculpts looked the same, everyone would have a pretty boring looking collection.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

hey i never noticed the skull inside the VCD. very interesting. kinda weird to see these things with something resembling eyes and a nose. i wish medi had more licenses to do deformed VCDs. a super-deformed robo, endoskeleton, pred and such would be pretty cool to have.
