Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

Dont diss the kubricks man these things r great and cheap as chips.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

I love the VCD Alien and I, too, have it ordered from DSC. I did have the 400% Kubrick Alien ordered as well, but I just can't swing both so I cancelled the Kubrick and got the VCD. They're both cool, though, for something different and unusual in the vast sea of similar-looking Alien figures out there. These will stand out in the crowd in a unique way! :joy

The Medicom Alien is beautiful but I probably won't be getting it due to funds, or lack thereof. Just too many other things on order at the moment. I can only hope to get one later on down the road if they haven't gone to astronomical prices.

Well, Kubricks are cheap if you get them at the right time and you don't want to get the chase figures. But I'm trying to catch up on the Star Wars Kubricks I missed, and that's a hugely expensive proposition. Of course the Alien/Aliens stuff is mostly pretty reasonable, aside from the Power Loader and the chestburster Kane figure.

I'll have to admit that the 400% Alien Kubrick and this Alien VCD are two of the upcoming pieces that I'm most excited about.

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

i guess whatever floats your boat... they just look like silly kid's toys to me compared to the RAH version.

in any case, the RAH Alien isn't to scale with anything, so i'm gonna pass on it unless it turns up somewhere cheap.

is the RAH Darth Vader not to scale too?

I was fortunate to pick up ROTS Vader on ebay 2 yrs ago. It's about 12" I believe. I'm afraid that will be my only Medicom fig...:monkey2 :banghead. Unless I get a major raise @ work...:naughty:lol

Re: Medicom RAH Alien 2008!

All of Medicom's RAH stuff is slightly smaller than 1/6 scale.
yeah, i know they're smaller, but i mean are they to scale with eachother.

like, did they make RAH Vader the same hight as RAH Boba, or is Boba smaller like he's supposed to be?

They most certainly are not.

The Med RAH is a beautiful display piece though, really nice. Just not in scale with 1/6 @ 11.8"... I'm gonna wait for HT. THAT Alien should be amazing... it will be some time though, maybe another year or so. They'll prolly roll out the Crew figs before dropping that guy on us.

Only issue is, the Medi could end up the truer to the film figure if HT takes liberties like with Aliens. While the Aliens figure still looks evil and badass, I'm not sure an artistic license representation of ALIEN will be as powerful. It'd be great if HT's ALIEN was ready for SDCC.

You could always think of the Medi Alien as in the early stages of development growth,if your really worried about scale.:D

I remember some of Cameron's aliens looking smaller in his movie.

I'm not personally worried about the scale as I may pass on Nostromo crew for budget. My concern is best representation for best price.

Honestly, that's not a bad idea!

But, really, why can't Medicom make more base bodies and their figures truly scalable? Yes, that they are shorter and skinnier than every other 1/6 company has been debated ad naseum. But the even bigger fault is that their figures aren't even to scale with themselves! Man that really bugs the crap out of me. :banghead There is no rational explanation for an Alien figure being the same height as, say, Speed Racer. If they made an Alien Queen it would probably be 11.8" too.

Well, even Hot Toys to some degree is guilty of this. They have 1 height for males, and one height for females and the Pirates of the Caribbean line is a perfect example of where this is a problem. As much as it has issues, Sideshow's Buck is the best body in terms of varied proportions, you've got 2 heights of females, 3 male heights and sizes, and while it's not dead on, for the most part I've found the character size range in the Star Wars line to be good, shorter people look that way, really short females look that way. It's definitely something I hope SSC keeps with their new bodies and that HT and Medi adopt in the future, really makes a difference when you have a line of figures that go together and not just solo characters; Darth Maul shouldn't be close to Darth Vader's height.
