Remember this figure will cost about twice what a SSC SW figure costs.

It does look nice, but we don't know that the helmet is removeable - there could be swappable heads.

Maybe Medi is now hiring SSC sculptors for their likenesses?

Jango is sculpted by a regular Medicom sculptor who is taking a more real likeness approach as he does with all his other human characters he sculpts that no one on this board cares for. As you can see, the sculptors Medicom already have are more than capable of sculpting likenesses, why the hell do they need to hire guys from SS or the US for that matter?

Well if Medicom can keep releasing SW 12" (or close to that I suppose:D ) with this type of accuracy that bodes well for many SW collectors.

Do tell, what else has he done? I'm guessing Riders. We know so little about the faces behind the sculpts at Medicom, it's kind of cool to finally hear something about them.

I think all we are lacking is a good OT human announcement and Clone Commander, and that will really send people over the edge. :maul

How about a real fur Chewbacca or General Grievous?
If Medicom announced either of those any time soon Sideshow's credibility would be totally shot :D

A real fur Chewbacca has to come from someone---soon (hell, I've even started to gather parts so I can go all Mary Shelley and Frankenstein one together myself because I need one in my collection)... I never even considered a Grievous. But as I doubt that SS could tackle it then maybe Medicom is the company to do it--- an accurate 14" (please note the height) Grievous would be awesome.

LOL Buffy figures look like crap to me, granted some have nice headsculpts but they look like barbie dolls at most. I could have gotten a bunch for FREE at spooktacular but passed. Yup they werent even worthy of having for free.

Bond figures are ok but they look like FIGURES. Jason...give me a break, the guy wears a hockey mask. and his real face is mangled how hard is that?

Sorry but my opinion stands. :lol

Just because you have lower standards (see pic below), dont fault others for not following you.

I completely agree that SST quality for 1/6 went up with SW and LOTR lines. Before SW, SST 1/6 figures were at best only so so. The paint used on the heads are too glossy (Consistency was not differentiated for hair and faces) and the likenesses often look inflated since the paint is so thick. The tailoring of the clothing for many of the figures was really bad before the SW days too. Infact they can still be really bad now (Look at T-800) IMO I think Medicom was doing great figures with great likenesses 3 years ago. Unfortunately it's not stuff a casual US person would know.

I think ppl really like SST because of the licenses, not the quality. They do a lot of stuff that doesn't have a lot of figure merchandise available and fill in cetain niches. Like the Outer Limits, Horror, Bond and Buffy. There's is not much available out there outside of some mcfarlane-esqe action figures and besides Buffy most of it is not complete in terms of characters and variety. Also some ppl prefer the 1/6 doll format for those licenses which SST again fills the niche for.

Kyouji Maeda has done Headsculpts for Tons of Medicoms. Most of the time he goes for photo likenesses and but sometimes he goes for a more stylized approach (Like Medi Superman Returns). Depends on his vision I guess. He has very good range. Here are a couple of pieces he's done. One you'll recognize, the others you may not.

I had a feeling the artist who did Jango did Wolverine, both pics above are nice sculpts!

I have passed on some of the Medicom figs, like Fett since my Marmit is nice looking still, but I want that Jango, and its making me want to get their Fett now, damn it! :D

Was this the same sculptor who did Captain Jack Sparrow? I've noticed with Jack, Wolverine, and now Jango, Medi has been moving in a photo-realistic direction. Is this more of a change in style preference more than a change in ability?

No doubt it's a change in style, not ability. And I for one am very happy to see them moving in a more realistic direction. I hate, hate HATED their Luke and Superman sculpts, for starters. I'm not going to pay $150 for a stylized, almost animated version of the character... I want something screen accurate. And this Jango is indeed that. I just hope the paint app is better than it was on Wolverine, which needs a repaint to not look so much like a toy.

Medicom is indeed improving greatly in this area, though... which means the gauntlet has been thrown for SSC to get off their butts and up their game in the articulation and armor/clothing areas.

First things first, Sideshow have to dump the Art S. Buck figures.

As dekadentdave says, THE BUCK STOPS HERE.

You nailed it Irish when you said screen accuracy... I'll pay Medicom prices for something that is going to be timeless-- and when pics are taken if you can't tell if it's a "toy" or an actual actor from the movie (ro as close as possible) how can you not add it to your collection?

One Stormtrooper has arrived (posed away from the SS for simply height issues even with extenders). Darth Vader is on the way. Boba on pre-order. Jango WILL be on pre-order as soon as the opportunity comes up. My Medi collection, like I'm guessing many here in the SSFReak community, is quickly on the rise.

The ROTJ Vader is simply one of the best SW 12" figures ever made. (It also features a good Sebastian Shaw sculpt).

I added about 3/4" of height to mine and made a few other slight alterations so it's pretty much in the proper scale now. I don't need a SSC Vader any time soon. ;)

Yes. He is indeed the same person who did Jack. It is more a change in approach not ability. Kyouji can and was always able to sculpt Photo realistic likeness perfectly fine if he wants to. He's been doing it for many of the Japanese Live Action stuff for awhile.

Well, I'm sure he's very talented and has a great porfolio, but my limited Medi experience can only speak to Jack and Wolverine, and all I can say is he is fantastic, he really capture Hugh Jackman and Johnny Depp beautifully, deffinately look forward to him putting that skill to the SW offerings, and (fingers crossed) possible future X-Men film figures.

He was deffinately the most expensive 1/6 figure I've ever bought, though I did luck out and paid under $150 which was the going rate at the time, and I have to say I don't regret the purchase one bit, he's just amazing, the quality of the helmet, the sculpt of Shaw, the detail of the facial scarring, the hands molded in very Vader poses, a cape that wears in a movie accurrate manner (an area where Hasbro made my cry with each new Vader release) just a great all around figure. I only look forward to Sideshow doing a ROTJ Vader because I would like one in proportion with that line, Medi Vader's helmeted head is the same size as a human head from Sideshow, so it makes the head look a little off next to them. My only BIG issues with Medi SW figures is the cost, I don't know what drives it, but sadly I have to pass on nice pieces (Clone Trooper :() because I like to collect in quantity and at their cost, I can get several things for the same price, but Jango, like Boba, will be exceptions.

LOLOLOLOL bro, last time I said these words...., well you know what happend. :rotfl:rotfl:lol:lol:cool::rolleyes:

Yeah they can get up there, I'm sure a lot of it has to do with the multiple vinyls/plastics they use being higher quality and then of course the name "STAR WARS" makes things expensive in the end too. But I've said it before, if you're patient you can get a deal. I paid $100 shipped for my ROTJ Vader, mint, $95 shipped for my Stormtrooper (though it was slightly damaged, but an easy fix) and $60 for Luke. I think the only SW RAH I've paid full price for so far is the Blackhole Trooper, but that's cause' my patience has grown thin.

I'd buy a SS 1/6 ROTJ Vader too no doubt when it hits. Mainly I'm a big Vader fan, and I'm sure they'll do a nice one, I just don't think ANY toy will ever be more favored by me than the ROTJ Medi Vader, by ANY company. even Medicom.
