I have them for sale at a great price (in the FS section). If it's ok with Darth Neil.

Fine with me-- the commerce section is where that type of activity is supposed to happen... If only you'd mention it a few more times here. :dunno

Oh wait. You have. :yess:

Not many people here like these guys but I think they are great. I'm not a massive SW fan so inaccuracies don't bother me.

These R2 and 3PO releases are some of my favorite Star Wars figures ever. I know there are scale issues, but these are just amazing in hand!

My R2 and 3PO arrived just now. These are positively the BEST versions of the droids ever.

Quick snap (that's not the inside of a Sandcrawler. That's my messy workbench):

Here are some of my first impressions - right out of the box (literally 15 minutes ago):

Scale: Artoo is definitely a shade too small. BUT - if I'm not mistaken; R2 was larger in ANH than in ESB. Not certain about ROTJ but I used to have this novel about the making of ESB and I remember them saying that they scaled R-2 down a bit since he was going to be in cramped quarters for most of ESB. There's a pic of R2 and C-3PO on Hoth that looks completely to scale with this Medicom set. And the R2 figure has colors that to me are more ESB than ANH. And even if this is ANH R2 - inhand the scale issue isn't noticeable as in photos.

3P0's head: Photos have a way of distorting proportions - especially when the subject is in miniature. In-hand 3P0's head doesn't look too small at all. And a comparison to a photo (from ESB) matches perfectly. If I were to nitpick - I'd say that the neck is a shade too thin, but not horribly noticeable.

3PO's body sculpting/paint: I haven't had any time to do a detailed comparison to movie stills but everything looks spot on on quick inspection. The paint finish has to be seen in-hand to fully appreciate. He's not flawlessly gold - which looks fake. He's got subtle weathering that is just enough to register and give an overall realism. Too much would also be fake (unless they release a Tatooine version - which I hope they do). The rubber wiring inside the waste is fine. Medicom has been using a new rubber material for a couple years now that is more rigid so I don't expect any issues with this. Painting of the wires is nowhere near as bad as people would have you expect.

C-3P0's Articulation: There's been some complaints about limited articulation. Out of the box - he's a little stiff. Especially in the groin area. But if you carefully spread the legs outward - it loosens up. You can rotate the legs around the upper thigh joints, but you can't kick the legs forward. So no posing him in a seated position. This actually matches with the real suit as I remember reading from the same book that it was a pain to have him sitting in the few scenes where he was seated. The way the thigh pieces were designed just didn't make it easy. There is articulation at the knees, and ankles. These points of articulation allows for pretty cool 3P0esque poses. Arms are articulated at the shoulders and not at the elbows but I don't have a problem since he's sort of restricted like that in the movies. There is articulation at the waist and the head/neck has rotation and tilt. Bottom line for me is this is a C-3PO figure. And so I didn't and don't expect full-range articulation. In the movie he could barely walk for crying out loud.

R2 Sculpting/Paint: Sculpting is dead on. Not much to complain about. Paint is perfect with slight weathering that brings out the little details. As mentioned - I see these guys as closer to the ESB verson than in ANH. In ANH - the blue was a little less darker than in ESB. The third leg pops in and out fine. I didn't have any issues with it being stuck like reported. It's a spring mechanism so you push in till it locks. And to extend - you quickly push in and release. Easy. There are wheels on all three legs and I especially like the little wire details on the main foot pads.

R2 Articulation: It's R2. The head swivels and the legs rotate at the "shoulders" and the "ankles". Not much more to ask for.

Batteries: Didn't come with any. But you can get a pack of 18 for about 8 bucks. No big deal. I actually prefer that high-end figures be shipped without the batteries installed since I end up taking them out so that they don't leak and ruin the figures.

Misc: One complaint that I kept hearing about 3-PO that has me puzzled has to do with his weight. I've read that he was surprisingly light and felt like paper mache. Mine felt about the right expected weight in my hand. He weighs just about the same weight as a bare HT body that I have. So he definitely doesn't feel cheap in my opinion.

Overall: This is a keeper set. I don't think the price is going down on these anytime soon. I was lucky enough to get my set from a seller in NYC for $320 shipped. Last set he had and glad I snagged them :D

I'll post pics when I get a chance to take some this weekend.

I would definitely want that iconic couple. But there just too expensive for me. Really!

I spent the last hour comparing the figures to movie stills. I'm convinced these are ESB versions instead of ANH. Even the slightly smaller mouth on 3-PO and the slightly thicker brim on around the head is present on ESB version and not on ANH. If Medicom designers were using ESB references - that might explain why R2 is smaller too.
