It is a bit long but "way too long?" Maybe. It's what I'm willing to live with for now until SS puts them out. 3PO always had varying midsections.

I think once I have wires covering the extensive blackness it will not be as noticeable.

I think it's awfully gutsy of you to customize this (already expensive) figure in order to give it that much needed minor bump in scale. Can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished.

Thanks. I'm anxious to to see it finished too.

Does anybody know what 7 phrases 3PO says or what 10 responses R2 has? I'm curious to see what it sounds like myself.

I'm also trying to figure out whether the new one is screen accurate or the old one. New one has a silver right shin but gold foot and old one has silver right shin and foot.

BOTH are accurate. He had a silver shin AND foot in ANH, and just a silver shin with gold foot in ESB and ROTJ. But the dent on his right chest was only in ANH.

Uh huh. I thought they both were for some reason. Thanks for the clarification.

Here is an updated set of pics for my modded 3PO. Added the wires. Might need more.

This is a pretty sweet set but I am not convinced that R2 is in scale with 3PO. On the figures, R2's standing position only comes up to the very bottom of 3PO's exposed belly while the movie version he comes up to the bottom of 3PO's belly rings in his 3 legged pose.

The medicom R2 is way too short. The hasbro is a little taller I think but the Taito in my pic above is just right little bear.

I made 3PO taller so he is now the right height. That is a hasbro in your pic next to the medicom 3PO. Still too short.

Does anyone know what phrases the new 3PO says? It's not listed anywhere that I know of.

Nm, I see what you mean, is that the R2 just looks out of sync with the C3PO.

It's just gotten very confusing - the Hasbro R2 is too small, but the Hasbro Threepio is quite a bit too tall. Then along came the Medi Threepio, which is quite a bit too small (and "thin") and the Medi R2 was much the same size as the Hasbro one. So you'd think the Medi Threepio and R2 would go together, but even they look a bit off in relation to each other.

To make matters worse, someone posted a pic of SSC Luke that had been ported to the SSC Indy body (a very short body responsible for the SSC Indy "bobble head" problem) and took pics next to the Medi Threepio that sort seemed in scale, and then someone else (Jedijim I think) extended the Medi torso to try to make him look taller next to regular SSC figs.

Collectors really need to adopt the SSC apple-in-picture approach to keep the scale consistent pic by pic. Honestly, the Medi Threepio looks great with 1/6 figs in some pics and woefully under scale in others.
