I have to say, these are some of the suckiest figures ever released by Medicom, the sculpts on the 1/10th scale Kotobuikya figures blow these overpriced/underscaled figures away. I'm definitely waiting on SSC or Hot Toys to one up Medicom.

And i don't give a darn about light up function if you can nail the sculpt and emulate illumination through paintjob.

Which Koto R2 is that. the new one or the old one?

Its from the 1/10th scale line, i think R2 has a much more accurate looking dome on this set compared to the larger pervious set but, they are both awesome.

My only problem with the set is that R2's two square senor array thingys or whatever are not painted in but, this would be me being picky.

Ok how long have you had it. There is a version couple years old and one that just came out.

Im sorry but those Koto droids dont do anything for me...Something is really wrong with R2 overall and c3po's mouth and face are just kind of off....i dunno there is something wrong...

I am not by any means saying the medicom pair is perfect...there are many things against them. Price, size of r2...the paint job on c3po's mid section when really paying attention looks like a grade 2 painting contest...

everyone just has to make their own judgement....

and prices should come down before the speaking versions come out!

Not at all man, you have to see them in person next to those Medicom sculpts to truly see Koto did a better job overall in sculpt and paint in some areas, just Koto has no light up function and less articulation on 3p0 but, at $80 for a display piece compared to a $500+ set of quite inaccurate, underscaled 1/6th droids..i'd say Koto is the best way to go until we get a better/more accurate/better scaled/better value set of droids from SSC or Hot Toys.

I scored my pair from a boardie for $350 Canadian shipped...so It wasent that bad for me...

but I do agree that you cant fully call out a sculpt until its seen in person.

as for scale.....thats why I kept them on the otherside of the room well away from my SSC darth vader!

You got a decent discount for the pair, as long as you are happy with them then thats all that matters. :D

Wow- that looks just about perfect scale wise!!! (Good job on the mod too.) Thanks for posting.

I wonder how small the medi 3po would look next to the r2 clock?? What is worse compared to the scale of the medi 3po- the medi 2r which is slightly too small or the r2 clock which would be slightly too big?

The R2 clock looks great and is in perfect scale with all figures medicom, sideshow, and any other.

Medi 3PO is only 1/2 inch too short. It would be nice if it was the right size but for me it's close enough.

The clock works awesome next to all figs.

Here is my new project.

I sanded the seams on the dome of the R2 clock and reprinted the whole thing. Chrome dome and off white body with metallic blue panels. Almost done the weathering.

I am starting on a medicom 3PO mod to make him the additional 1/2 inch taller and give him a better looking midsection. I took him apart and popped the ab post out of the torso. Cut the ends off and used another longer piece(paintbrush handle) to go between the two ball joints.

It gives it height but was a bit awkward looking so I took flat black fabric and covered the midsection. Then stuffed batting into the. Fabric to give him a bit more belly girth. My next move is to buy some red blue and white wire to add to the midsection.

They look like the proper height now.

Anyone getting the newer versions that have the sound gimmicks?
I'm getting them since I missed out on the first batch.

It is a bit long but "way too long?" Maybe. It's what I'm willing to live with for now until SS puts them out. 3PO always had varying midsections.

I think once I have wires covering the extensive blackness it will not be as noticeable.
