That's exactly the stuff I was thinking of too when I wrote that. I've always enjoyed concept art books, my first exposure being the old Star Wars concept art books, I like seeing the design evolution.

In the Art of MGS book, even the discarded designs are awesome! I like all the various ideas for Old Snake and Raiden. Off the top of my head, I also remember a very badass concept sketch of Meryl, with pretty muscled arms and a bandanna.

A real shame they did not release an Art of MGS3, I'm interested in what the unused designs for that are like.

The closest you'll get a Art of MGS3 is that HD book. About 75% of that stuff I've never seen before.

The original concepts of REX looked like ED-209 from Robocop lol.

The bidding went over my set budget, so I will get the more easily available/cheaper hd book for now and get the mgs4 one down the line.

Thanks for the input. :duff

Yeah I'm actually going to order that HD book tonight.

I agree, I always thought the old MGs from the MSX/Nintendo versions (cant remember if it was MG or MG2:SS) looked like ED209.

Plissken, do you have the HD book? Check this out:

I was looking at scans from what I believe is the HD art book, in what looks like the Peace Walker section......the concept sketches of Big Boss, there is a page with three small pictures of him at the top and two larger ones on the bottom, all front standing shots. The Picture on the bottom right has him in tiger stripe pants, no shirt, an ammo belt worn bandit style.

OK, so if you're following me (LOL) the picture to the left of that has Big Boss in OD jungle fatigues with his web gear and those black ballistic shoulder pad things.....if you look at the teaser image of Big Boss with the dog from MGS5....it's virtually the same picture. Just thought that was interesting. Sorry I couldn't make it easier and just link the image.

Almost looks like the same BDU from Peace Walker except he has pouches on his chest rig. And I do have the HD book.

I also just noticed he has a cape. Wonder what that is about.

You can also make out that his web gear is the old LBV the SF guys used to wear before all the high speed stuff started coming out.

"Diamond Dogs" is on his patch. How many groups did he make? Stick with one and be consistent. His story is all over the place. It should of went from FOX to FOX HOUND with no bull____ in the middle. MSF was stupid.

Lol Diamond Dogs wonder what the backstory to that will be.
It does seem as if the whole Big Boss legend is being stretched quite thin, though I'm not going to front like I'm not excited for virtually every MGS release (virtually because not really into the whole revengeance thing).

MGR eats ass.

I haven't been excited for a MGS release since MGS4. Everything after that has been a steep decline.

The only thing to get my blood pumping would be MSX remakes.

I hear you on that, I was quite pleasantly surprised to find they included those MSX ones with the HD collection, I'm looking forward to playing those.

MGS4-style remakes of those, or MGS1, would be pretty damn awesome.

Well Koji Pro mentioned last year they wanted to do another remake of MGS1.

I wouldn't mind that at all. I guess Shadow Moses would need to be remodeled to cope with the enhanced gameplay they employed for MGS4. They would need to make the facility larger.

It just can't be the same design if they want to keep it interesting.

Decided to take some pictures of all the PA line I own. I got all of them except for Miller who I will get at some point. All of the figs are using 1/6 crotch stands. I highly recommend them.

Good point on having to expand the Shadow Moses environment. The return to SM in MGS4 had me foaming at the mouth for a remake of MGS1.

That's a great collection, Fox looks really impressive, and I like that last shot looking down the line, that's pretty cool. I have the jungle fatigue and sneaking suit Big Boss from PW, haven't gotten around to the other yet because of the 1/6 stuff that drains my money lol. After the HT MGS3 figures were announced, it put my seemingly never ending MG Universe 1/6 project back online, so I've been devoting my collectible money to that.

Most people have been complaining that the Naked Snake HT fig has the Sneaking Suit instead of the Jungle BDU. I'm personally sick of the BDU variants, Medicom did it to death. I think it's a nice change of pace, not the greatest SS but it's a nice contrast to the Boss's.

It's also called "Sneaking Suit Version" so they will do a variant without question. I just wished they would do a BDU variant of Boss. But since her nameplate does not have "Version" on it, she will be a one and done.

How much taller are the MGS1 figures to the Peace Walker figures??

Sneaking Suit Snake is about 1/2 inch shorter than Solid Snake and Ninja. But the Jungle Fatigues and the Battle Dress I believe are the same height and they are about 1/4 inch shorter then Solid and Ninja.

EDIT now that I look at it Sneaking Suit Snake might be 3/4 inch shorter. I might tape measure them.

Plissken, excellent point and I totally agree.
Customizing the MGS3 Sneaking Suit would require either extensive work or taking some artistic liberties on the design. I'd rather a professional outfit like HT tackles something complex like that than a fatigue version which you can get much easier.

That said I am looking forward to a Virtuous Mission version, with no bandanna and two eyes. I prefer the ERDL camo fatigues too but I'm not getting my hopes up for that, I'd say Tiger Stripe camo is a sure thing.

Tiger Stripe definitely, it basically was the Default Camo during Operation Snake Eater.

Olive Drab can ____ off :lol
