Everyone in Metal Gear Solid was manipulated by someone. Unfortunately, everyone was all too stubborn to put their differences aside and realize they were being manipulated. The way I see, the entire story of Metal Gear Solid is overly complex, convoluted, and full of twists and turns for the sake of it. Taken as a single story, Metal Gear Solid 1 is perfect and works great. When taken as a whole, alongside the other MGS games, is what creates problems. Kojima hates Solid Snake.
