The head would look too small on Old Snake. I never understood why Medicom made Old Snake taller... Actually, I never understood a lot of things from medicom

You don't really need to kitbash, however, modifications are necessary if you want to improve your Old Snake figure. Head over to One Sixth Warrior, and check out the customization that Golgo-013 did on his Old Snake. Needless to say, the modifications must have cost a lot

The term "Epic Fail" is a severe understatement for this auction, check the link below.
The reason for why anyone would pay $500 bucks for a stack of 120 copies of MGS 1 (disk 2 only), is beyond my understanding. Heck, that's not even a complete game! But, I guess you can use the disks as frisbees, or turn them into ninja shurikens. Kudos to LiquidHornet, over at violentsnake.com for finding this.

Guys, I've been wondering something: Is it even worth it, to collect MGS figures anymore? The prices of the original RAH figures have dropped down substantially, from where they once were (obviously because of the re-releases). A few weeks back, I remember seeing a brand new, original Squares Snake sell for just over $100 on Ebay. That said, it seems as if MGS sellers are scared to go even go on Ebay right now, because they're not able to make profit.
It's very sad for me to know that my most treasured figure, the Tiger Stripe Snake (the figure that I've wanted for years, but finally saved up and bought a few months ago), will not be valued highly as a collectible anymore.
Don't get me wrong, it's nice that a lot of folks who couldn't afford an RAH Snake figure, finally have a chance to own one with the re-releases (more power to them). But, for me, it's instances like this that make me want to quit the hobby for good. Why couldn't Medicom just leave the old figures alone (letting them retain their value, and worth), and create new stuff?

If you are collecting to make profits (as seems to be the case based on your post), then yeah, I would say that it isn't worth collecting anymore.

I think Medicom still has the ability to make some pretty amazing figures. Their Chun-Li was fantastic imo.
I would like to see another company's take on the MGS license, however. Medicom's had it for awhile and I'd really like to see a more expanded character roster from the entire series.

That is something to look forward to Pitu. But will we get actual characters from the game or just the Metal Gear robots? I'd like the robots, but I also want a Revolver Ocelot and Meryl as well.

i was just thinking about this earlier today and poof! you mentioned it and actually give some insight into the fact that we are getting figures of NOT JUST THE ROBOTS! This is awesome news

If that were the case, I would agree with you. However, I'm not collecting to make profit. I'm collecting, for the sense of knowing that I own truly rare stuff, that are worth mentioning and showing (stuff, that not a lot of people have). Last year, Kojima signed a few hundred launch copies of MGS 4, and I was very fortunate to have my copy signed by him. Right now, I could easily make a large sum from my signed copy, but I never intend to resell it.
However, in the case that I do plan on reselling things in the future, it would be nice to know that my stuff has retained their value (at the least).
There are collectors who will collect anything regardless, but then there are those (who, out of a sense of pride), strive to only collect the things that are rare, valuable, and that won't depreciate in value over time. I strive my hardest (though at times unsuccessfully) to be in the latter category.
Same basic logic applies, though. If you are collecting for monetary value, and they aren't maintaining their value, then you shouldn't keep collecting, right? People collect for various reasons that are all equally legitimate, IMO, but if that is your reason, you might consider collecting actual antiques or something. Collectibles of video games will almost never maintain long-term value, IMO, because the market moves on to new things all the time and after a few months, what was hot is now not.
Well, perhaps, I should just boycott Medicom for good lol.

I love Ashley Wood's work, but man, his figures might look weird. Can you imagine making a Snake from the pic below?
Although, it would be cool to see a 2D drawing come to life in a 3D figure. 
As long as it's not Medicom working on MGS, that's good with me.
I think that Hot Toys' continually improving things is really going to be bad for Medicom in the future. People who collect Medicom figures claim that they are getting better, but to my eyes, they aren't much different now from what they were a few years ago (just look at these re-released Snakes--how different are they, really?). In the same amount of time, Hot Toys has improved so much that their figures clearly look like they are from a completely different (and much better) company.
