SERIOUSLY? How big are these things as they look amazingly
well detailed
Its maybe 1 1/2 cm under 1:6 scale

but half the price of 1:6 scale

They perfectly scaled the RAH Raiden, he's about the height of a HT Predator. That's like 13-14 inches I believe.

I'm so glad that I'll be able to pose the new Play Arts figure with my 1/6 stuff. I'm honestly thinking about selling my Peace Walker figures. They're so short in comparison.

Btw, do any of you guys want some signatures? I'm experimenting a bit with Photoshop. Lemme know, I need the practice lol.

That's what I hate about Play Arts. They make it seem like Big Boss got a growth spurt after he received his battle dress suit :lol.

This is nice, reminds me of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy.

:hi5: Thanks Brandoloneous. Yeah, that does look like a pretty good match right there. I was just grabbing all available parts that looked like Snake would use and put them on him. Glad it resembles him in one of the games. :yess:

It's actually a Metal Gear Solid fan film that takes place between MGS1 and MGS2 during his "Philanthropy" years. I've seen a lot of fan films, but this one is the best damn fan film I've ever seen. Every MGS fan should watch it, it's even endorsed by Kojima and he himself can't wait for the sequels. It's an hour long, and is available for download or streaming at their site:

I will definitely watch this tonight, after the kids go to sleep. :) Thanks for the info and I'm excited to check it out. :hi5:

I utterly hate that movie :lol. It's good for a fan-made flick, but , you just have to forget everything you know about MGS to enjoy it.

It's not endorsed by Kojima, in any way. He poses, and takes pictures with anyone and anything. He'll sign a copy of the U.S. Constitution if you give him one.

Exactly, it's good for a fan-made flick, and most fan-made flicks are utter horse****. Why utterly hate it? Those are strong words for something that's actually well done. Try watching "Hero of Time" or "Birdemic" and you'll see my point :lol

Why would you have to forget everything MGS? I don't see how this could not take place before MGS2 during one of Philanthropy's many supposed missions.

Translation via Kojima's Twitter when asked if he saw it:

"Of course I did. It’s awesome. I felt like crying for their love towards Metal Gear. It’s also a well made movie. I can’t wait to see next part."

Boss man endorses!

It doesn't mean he endorses anything, he's just a very nice guy to his fans! :lol He appreciates cosplaying, and anything else that gives credit to MGS, and makes him feel that the series was successful.

As for the movie though, they made Philanthropy seem like a PETA-inspired, anti-war terrorist group, and there was some lame diatribe by the "Otacon" actor about global disarmament, with a video montage from anti-war protestors. That's not something that would ever happen in MGS. The Philanthropy in MGS 2 was out to stop Metal Gear prototypes from being developed; they weren't on a campaign to threaten the world about unilateral disarmament. Some of the acting was pretty honky, and the guy at the end who looked like the "undertaker" was also pretty hilarious.

Again, it's good for a fan-made movie. I wouldn't pay to see it. So, it's good that they're offering it for free.

I guess I was just thinking opposite of "lawsuit," like Nintendo was threatening to do to the guys that were making that god-awful "Hero of Time" fan film. Plus:

en·dorse
/enˈdôrs/
Verb
1) Declare one's public approval or support of.
2) Recommend (a product) in an advertisement.

Semantics :1-1:

As for the issues you listed, Otacon's message seemed legit for Philanthropy, as they were publicly known not unlike "Anonymous" considering themselves as "Hacktivists" making public announcements:

"We live in an age in which the world has endured the threat of annihilation at the hands of nuclear weapons. Governments relied on the theory of mutually assured destruction to deter an all-out nuclear war, but this strategy will inevitably fail.

Under no circumstances will we ever stand by while a nation builds Metal Gears or similar weapons. We shall fight them always, until our annihilation, or theirs."

That's just a personal opinion, I didn't mind it (the message) whatsoever and I don't see how it couldn't fit into the MGS universe in one way or another.

As for the acting/dubbing and the "Undertaker Dundee" guy, yeah, not the greatest, as to be expected from a fan-film. But the whole time I'm nevertheless in awe that this is a very well done fan-film. Especially the Metal Gear segments.

Fine, I relent about what Kojima endorses :lol. Just wish he endorsed David Hayter for the new MGS LOL.

But, again, that really isn't Philanthropy. There was never a lecture in MGS 2 about the "evils" of nuclear weapons, and declaring war against nations who chose to develop them. Their group was just out to stop Metal Gear prototypes from being developed, through espionage and leaking information to the press - after Ocelot leaked the schematics of REX to various governments around the world.

In other words, Otacon and Snake were trying to wrap up what started in Shadow Moses with REX, and clean up the mess that Ocelot had created.

This movie is pretty decent for what it is, though. At least they didn't have a fat Snake like many of the cosplayers :monkey1. Snake's actor did a pretty good job. Some of the girls were also pretty, too.
