But why not use the ideas in say... the last ten years of Metal Gear? Looking at it in a vacuum, it looks like he's completely lost any creativity... or he's just been phoning it in.

I think the ideas are there, it's just that not all of them are as good as or as elevated as his MGS1&2 stuff, or as well merged with the games.

That you, Pliss? :lol

Nah, my name on there is the same as this. I'm not going to be a puss behind a different username.

I guess we can say he peaked in 2001. Deek Strangling might have the visuals and cinematography, but if it doesn't have the writing chops behind it... who cares?

He should get a writer and work with him, his writing is not slick at all, he writes every single thing that goes into his mind and that's exactly how it goes in his dialogue :lol

What's impressive is that as fat and voluminous his writing his, his subtext and implications are even bigger :lol

I would love to have a conversation with him about stuff, but the entire conversation might be turned into another script :lol

I'd really like to know what got lost in the shuffle with him in the mid 2000s. He was able to write a cohesive plot, albeit convoluted, but would require multiple playthroughs to get the full picture and catch all the nuances. That stuff started going away after MGS2. MGS3 had some hidden things within the story, but there was nothing truly symbolic within it and only had minor social themes compared to MGS2's magnifying glass on society.

Maybe the biggest problem with him and the series was that he got too much control over his own product. If he stuck as a mid level guy in Konami, maybe he would still be around and I'd be praising V. I think Konami let him off own his own and by the time they reigned him in, they decided to just let him go.

I take no pleasure in bashing the guy's writing and ego, but I can't help but do so since I just feel betrayed as a fan.

If Deek Strangling is good, fine. I'll wait on reviews. But I HAAAATE stars in games.

film stars in games you mean?

I do too, it's retarded, it takes away so much from the experience, at least in V he took the likeness and integrated it with the characters.

It takes you the **** out of the game because these stars never ever get lost in the characters, they're always themselves INSIDE the game, they're not the characters.

This guy is not and never will be a character, he's Norman Reedus inside a game, period, no one will ever take him any differently or get the illusion that he's a real character AND he's not gonna be the player either, so no matter how great the game is, that's already a negative and it's not gonna change.

Yeah games, sorry.

If you're bringing in a star, it's got to be a relatively unknown. He brings in all that Walking Durr baggage. I don't know why the king of trailer park trash was his pick. Probably because he loves the show, for it's writing :monkey3

Him being nude in the trailer also is just so typical of Kojima nowadays.

Part of me wants Konami to sour the memory of the series even further, just so these tools off themselves. They're all so willing to jump aboard the Deek Strangling hype train when it's more than likely another low level fiction scam.
Ha! :rotfl oh man, make the series suffer...rot...and die. True revenge against the fanbase :lecture note how some people are saying MGR is no longer the worst game in the series. really? :slap:

All this makes me wonder. How would this be viewed if Kojima was behind it all? On Reedus Fetus's game, I'm not gonna trust review scores. After MGS 4 and V, I couldn't take scores for the rest of the series (cept MGR, but it should have gotten higher)

Completely ****ing true :lol

Nothing will ever get a fair shake with these rabid wolves. By no means am I defending this game, since I honestly couldn't care less about it.

You know, I see why the hate, whatever you think of the series, at face value this looks like the absolute lowest the franchise's ever been, this is truly RE level, finally we're there.

The fans may be misguided fools, and I tried to muster a little interest to go against them, but, yeah the game does look like a piece of ****.

It's going to absolutely be a soupy loose dump so I can understand why everyone hates it sure. But as that one Youtube comment said "you would all be jerking off if Kojima was making this." I'd not be as hateful to the fans if they didn't just praise **** as a masterpiece because of a guy's name in the credits.

Again Pliss sums up my thoughts. I cannot stand the pedigree Kojima has been associated with compared to other creators. I just don't get where it comes from, unlike other creators like Hideki Kamiya, Masahiro Sakurai, Keiji Inafune (and he only recently ****ed up, practically in a way not that far from Kojima) and Shigeru Miyamoto. That's only going by Japanese creators alone and those four, despite their credentials and influence, get a ton of ****.

I used to hold Mikami in high regard. I can't judge Evil Within since I haven't played it, but he got a ton of **** for it... so why is Kojima immune from criticism, bar this ****ing forum and a handful of Youtube comments :lol
