Nanos are a great concept, and MGS is the only game I know of to include them. Not literally, but it felt like they were the answer to absolutely everything we pondered over for almost 10 years after Sons of Liberty. All the answers were handed over on a silver platter, Kojima should of left some of it unanswered... or at least give us clues to come to our own conclusions.

But, he's not a Vampire per say. I mean, he can be killed. But where does his strength and agility come from? He gets trapped in that bombed out church, drinks blood, and comes out Spider-Man?

Naomi did say that the nanos only heightened his natural healing ability. Whether that was normal human level, or higher, remains a mystery. But it makes no ****ing sense, he gets shot in the head and doesn't die...

The blood thing is psychological, the rest is nanos.

But it does make sense, tissue regeneration can be one of the almost endless functions of nanomachines, it's just exaggerated like everything else in MGS.

Perhaps he should have left some unanswered, but the thing is that nano-machines can absolutely explain most of the stuff.

They can explain it sure, but was it required to be the answer to everything? I would of gladly taken some other brain fart answer to be honest.

But why is it stupid?
because this

this could be attributed to the dudebros we've talked about as well, since they were like "GIVE US DA ANZWERZ!!!"

As for Vulcan Raven, I don't buy any of that with nanomachines, period. Paralyzing Snake? Control of crows?

I honestly think casual action gamers ruined the series. That's why the series has moved away from cerebral storytelling and is more straight forward action games.

For the most part yeah. Probably the only time it did work with MSG 2, with what Kojima tried. Making Raiden to supposedly appease to women and the opposite of Snake, and the story sorta being like an FU to the death threats from fans, and so on.

Perhaps it wasn't required, and as far as Vamp goes, I'm really glad they made it a product of nano machines.

but that doesn't say it was a stupid explanation, because it really isn't, if anything it was crafty, that says you didn't like it, I can respect that.

As for VR, he doesn't have anything to do with that.

Well to be honest, I thought having a literal Vampire was a bit too much even for MGS, I thought the nano machines turned the silliness down a notch so I liked it, it did lose the mystique but it wasn't until MGS4, the nano-machine explanation was a nice little turn imo, now if it was Psycho Mantis for instance, you can't get telekinesis though nano-machines :lol

Vulcan Raven is fine too, premonition/precognition is something paranormal that's been actually somewhat scientifically documented, mostly in WWII and the cold war, which works for MGS, unexplained immortality, not so much.

There are ghosts in MGS, like The Sorrow (MGS 3) and Psycho Mantis (MGS 4) and you mean to tell me that vampires can't exist in such a universe?! :horror Say it ain't so.

That's one of the reasons MGS2 sucks and as far as casuals playing MGS4, how? MGS4 was very criticized by casuals because "wuz 2 hard 2 follows" :lol

Like I said, just like Raven.

Ghosts are somehow in the more acceptable side of the paranormal spectrum for a game like this, vampires? Yeah, no.

Why not Aliens?

It is because it kills some intrigue. Plus MGR even made fun of it, and for good reason.

I didn't say anything about MGS 4 and casuals, it's not hard to follow.

Don't forget singing robots well ahead of their time. And Liquid Ocelot, period. And a dude (Decoy Octopus) who can somehow disguise himself as an African American man to the point of using his blood.

It didn't kill the intrigue, there's still plenty paranormal and unexplained weird **** going on :lol

Also, singing robots, Rex roars doesn't it ? :lol

Octopus, if it was nanonmachines, it would be completely believable.

Like I said, just like Raven

There's nothing precognitive about ghosts, because they exist as separate, sentient entities, and they aren't figments of person's psyche. If you're dealing with elements of the supernatural, there's no reason to pick and choose. I, for one, don't see why an immortal like Vamp couldn't have existed in MGS. After all, we're talking about a series where you're dealing with military cover-ups and conspiracies. It could've been written in a way to show that the military was aware that entities like Vamp had existed. It really wouldn't have been far stretch for MGS, to do something like that in the series, if you ask me.

Vamp isn't really a vampire honestly. He has vampire-like qualities, and really a motif to go with it. Everyone else, basically is what they are. If they act like a ghost, they are a ghost, and so on.

I didn't say Ghosts were about precognition, I said just like Vulcan, ghosts are in the acceptable side of the paranormal that fit in MGS, vampires aren't.

If you really see no difference and there's no reason to pick and choose, like I said, what about aliens? Literal voodoo zombies, wizards? etc etc

Vamp isn't really a vampire honestly. He has vampire-like qualities, and really a motif to go with it. Everyone else, basically is what they are. If they act like a ghost, they are a ghost, and so on.

That I can understand.

But then the fact that they're nanomachines isn't harmful since you already know it was only a persona to begin with.

Someone should ask Kojima the reason for Vulcan Raven's powers. I wonder if he'll say "nano-machines" or give an answer that was similar to Gaspars :lol.

It's been discussed that MGS has anime-like qualities, and much of this is like an anime. However, most animes do not explain most of the mythos or lore in ways like this. Not without major backlash, and for good reason. So vamp being vampire-like, and the ghosts as Solidus said, could fit.

You're not seriously trying to defend the singing robots.....................are you?

And REX roaring could just be the machinery starting up or whatever. That's not even a thing it does often, or notably.

I don't even want to think about that :lol

Hold up, what's this about a persona?

We're going in circles now, and there are genres in anime as well

Yes, very much seriously super cereal.
Yes, machinery, that conveniently sounds like a dinosaur, and it even moves like a roaring dinosaur when doing it, that must be a tactical advantage in the battlefield.
