Nailed it right here, MGS2 at face value was a clusterF. I was so mad at the stupid game that I literally kicked my spanking new PS2 out of frustration. It took me a few replays but I think I saw it wasn't meant to be taken as that. I do feel bad that it's still not as warmly received like the other games, which is why games like MGS4 and PW exist to please the crowd.

I'm really curious as to how "race" and "revenge" would tie in with the mythology. "Sense" and "Peace" were already pushing their luck. :lol

I honestly think it will be just a darker MGS4, which doesn't say much.

Man, that's a tough question. Maybe Naked Snake? But, then I remember Solid Snake had some super-human reflexes in MGS 2, when he dodged Olga's bullet.

MGS 2 was a game that needed to grow on you over the years. We were way too young when we played it back in the day :lol.

The bullet dodging definitely puts in more in Snake's favor IMO. Plus, all the Snake children were designed to be more superior to Naked Snake anyway.

Liquid maybe? Keep in mind he could survive anything, even the fall from Rex. We never really found out just what is he capable of beyond surviving the impossible.

He did have the highest resistance, and took out F16s with a Hind... but he still couldn't out skill Snake. It's a shame Solidus didn't do anything outside of his suit.

Well, Solidus did do a stint in the Liberian Civil War. He burnt down villages, killed untold amounts of people, and who knows what else. But, age was never on his side. He was the youngest of the clones, but his cells were breaking down faster.

But it makes me question how much time Snake really had left. He must of been in his 20s physically in the 80s, so he must of been in his 60s in MGS2. I don't understand why Snake's aging got so accelerated within 9 years after Shadow Moses. When he and Big Boss talk at the end of MGS4, Snake looks older than even BB.

Yeah, that really didn't make sense. His accelerated aging should've been in a linear progression, and he didn't look any older than his late 30s in MGS 2. It's like he aged normally for most of his life, and then all of a sudden he started becoming really old, really fast? I'm not an expert on the subject, but I don't think that's how cloning works.

I would assume, after the clone reached physically maturity that the deterioration in cells would move into overdrive. I'm only speaking in MGS terms, since I'm not familiar with cloning at all. The Snakes were only supposed to be weapons, with a short shelf life. It would of been nice in one of the myriad of Big Boss games, actually seeing the cloning process and seeing the infant Snakes.

At least we got the "Not so young anymore, eh Snake? You're drowning in time."

"The price of physical prodigy! A few more years and you'll be another dead clone of the old man!"

It gave a little cohesion with him getting old so fast I guess :dunno

But this also makes me think, didn't Liquid want Big Boss's DNA to cure himself and the Genome soldiers? I wonder if it was possible to reverse age him, or at least make him age normally. I hate thinking Snake is dead in the Rising era... but Raiden did speak in a way you'd think he could still be alive.

Snake deserved to live out a long peaceful life after MGS4. With all the advanced in technology, you'd think he could live off a cyborg body or something. Although at the same time, he shouldn't be modified and left natural... can't win either way.

If Solid Snake became a cyborg, I think the future of the series would have been thoroughly screwed. Gray Fox becomes a cyborg, than Raiden (which changed him for the better, but some fans think it didn't, don't get why) then Solid Snake? And so on? Not to mention God knows how much worse the treatment Solid Snake could get from there

I'm surprised so many people forget about the

"...You're drowning in time..."

accelerated aging was always there, I guess snake having an awful final act was away of getting back at the fans

I know, but Snake was mentioned so... and Nanos make you invincible, so anything is possible :lol

I was thinking about this the other day, why are nanomachines such a criticized plot point in MGS4? I recently attended to a lecture about nanomachines and they do literally can do almost everything, seems like another ahead of its time idea.

I don't think Nanos are inherently "bad", but they became the go to answer in the game. Vamp's powers shouldn't be artificial IMO, he lost all his mystique in MGS2.

Nanomachines for everything. But, I wonder what was the explanation behind Vulcan Raven's apparent supernatural control of crows.

Well to be honest, I thought having a literal Vampire was a bit too much even for MGS, I thought the nano machines turned the silliness down a notch so I liked it, it did lose the mystique but it wasn't until MGS4, the nano-machine explanation was a nice little turn imo, now if it was Psycho Mantis for instance, you can't get telekinesis though nano-machines :lol

Vulcan Raven is fine too, premonition/precognition is something paranormal that's been actually somewhat scientifically documented, mostly in WWII and the cold war, which works for MGS, unexplained immortality, not so much.

It's really just that. The concept of nanos is ok, what MGS did at first was ok...making it the answer to everything was stupid. That's really why I questioned why MGS 4 was praised for its story telling for its time, because on that alone, is **** story telling.

But, he's not a Vampire per say. I mean, he can be killed. But where does his strength and agility come from? He gets trapped in that bombed out church, drinks blood, and comes out Spider-Man?

Naomi did say that the nanos only heightened his natural healing ability. Whether that was normal human level, or higher, remains a mystery. But it makes no ****ing sense, he gets shot in the head and doesn't die... or at least revive with massive brain damage.

But why is it stupid?
