That could be true , Hayter did an interview last year on some podcast and said he thought they didn't ask him to come back because he had asked for a lot more money and he always had problems with how Konami paid him and the other voice actors, which is pretty weird because when he first was asked why he didn't return, he said he had no clue. I think he purposely played the sympathy card and he has a really loyal fan base so it kind of worked. I know most of you guys here will disagree with me on this, but the way he acted after Kiefer got the role made me lose a lot of respect for him.

I can buy that Hayter would be more expensive than Keifer, it makes perfect sense with the whole Konami being cheap thing, same reason they cut Rika.

But then again, they didn't even ask him, I bet he could've taken the job on a lower salary.

OT: I just listened to another interview with Rika (by YongYea) and she had nothing to do as creative influence on in-game music, she was just the middle woman in-between Kojima and Gregson-Williams, she never mentions Tappy nor KCE so I'm guessing she had nothing to do with that either, so it made sense they cut her.

Konami is wretched, they were even underpaying Kojima. He was working a fixed company salary, and wasn't making profit on any of his games.

As for Hayter, if money was an issue, I'm sure Konami lowballed him more than he was willing to go. After all, we're talking about a guy who sacrificed his own salary to rehire the original MGS 1 voice actors for Twin Snakes. Someone like that doesn't strike me as a greedy person. Kiefer, on the other hand, is a Hollywood actor and director... so, I'm not sure how much he wanted for MGS V. I do find his limited amount of voice work in the game to be a bit suspicious...

I highly doubt Hayter would have refused less money. He recorded VO for a fan project for free and it never even came out.

He was probably more expensive because once you have a role for a while you get considered harder to replace because ofnthe harsh reaction the audience will have. Kind of like if they tried to replace RDJ as Iron Man except not on the same scale. I'm sure money wasn't and issue at all (especially considering that budget) I just think Kojima never really liked Hayter and this game is essentially a reboot or spin off anyway.

From what I understand Kojima barely knew Hayter :lol

I heard they met only like four times or something.

I don't really get how you could feel this way considering Kojima did to Hayter what is basically happening to him by Konami right now.

I don't feel bad for Kojima, and from that article Solidus posted before, he was basically getting paid very well every year he worked on the game. I don't know everything going on behind the scenes so I'm not sticking up for Kojima just because I love his games :lol

I'm just happy all this stuff didn't happen halfway into production and Kojima can still finish the game. This seems like the last true Metal Gear game we're going to get and I'm grateful for that.

And I don't see how both situations are comparable, Kojima basically worked on a game for 7 years, and Konami basically won't let him promote his own creation, they want to market it as theirs and not his, which seems petty to me. Hayter on the other hand never had a job to begin with. It's not like he was contracted to voice x amount of games. That's why I thought it was pretty unprofessional of him to ask his fans to make petitions and such after Kiefer got the job, he's basically trying to get Kiefer fired :lol

But hey man, for all we know, this still could be a ruse and Hayter might end up voicing Solid or Big boss in the game, then I wouldn't mind everything he did since it would have all been an act pretty much.

Is Kojima the original Trank? Instead of pot he was addicted to posting food pics on twitter :lol

He's also getting his work messed with by the big guy.

:lol :lol :lol

I just hope TPP doesn't get F4 kind of reviews. I can totally see the day before release Kojima posting something similar to what Trank wrote once the embargo lifts :lol

:lol I doubt it, Kojima was in charge the whole time, it the game fails it will be on Kojima, which I also doubt it will fail.

The worst I can see the game doing is just plain good instead of excellent like all the previous games, I can't see it even being mediocre.

I expect it to be better, than Arkham Knight.

If this game is only good it will be the biggest disappointment of the year :lol

I see is as Konami is trying to erase the work Kojima did and Kojima is trying to do the same to Hayter. They straight up recast him in the middle of a story arch with no real explanation as to why except saying petty things like "Kiefer is just on a whole-nother level than the guy that used to voice him". Then you have the De Ja Vu mission which is straight up erasing Hatters work. Outside of patching all the pervious entires taking his name out of the credits it's pretty similar.

And there's pretty much no chance of this being a hoax at this point. MGS is going down in a blaze of glory.

You're not deleting only Hayter's work though, in that mission, you're deleting everything Kojima worked with as more than producer, it was supposedly Kojima telling us about the situation.

I don't think Kojima is stupid enough to think that people are just going to forget about the lead voice actor for every metal gear solid prior to V. Nobody is trying to erase him, and Kiefer isn't even the second person to voice Big Boss. There could be plenty of reasons why Hayter got the boot, I can't take sides when I don't know the real reason behind him being replaced, but since he was never hired for this game I can't feel bad for the guy, it was never his job to lose to begin with.

Konami not letting Kojima promote the game is pretty, but that's only hurting them at the end of the day. Based on previews, Kojima's name is all over the game, even casuals who don't know who he is will know by the end of TPP. At the end of the day, I can't defend Kojima since I don't know the whole story, but he certainly always had more freedom than most developers in the industry so I'm at least grateful to Konami for that.

It makes obvious sense not to have Hayter voice two characters talking to each other at the same time. It does not make sense to have Hayter voice a character in the first two acts of his story and then recast him in the finale without explanation. The fact that he "never had the job" is even worse than him getting fired because at least that would indicate some creative difference or something between them instead of them saying the guy who you all loved as Snake is not Snake anymore because Kiefer is better at doing it than he is. That's insulting to Hayter and to the fans. Then they top it off with a crappy side mission with supposed scense from the original and "quotes" that are not voiced by literally anyone from that game. That's petty and low no matter how you slice it.
