I haven't played the others either but the graphics and what I've played so far make that pretty much a none factor.

I haven't played one since MGS 2 but that doesn't mean this game will not be worth the purchase.
What can you do online? I haven't signed up for the PS network yet.

You get what they call the MGO starter set with MGS4 it comes with everything you need to play online.

Voice communication works fine, I played a game last night.
And I have to say, honestly, it's way better than COD4. Like Kain said, no grenade chucking craziness, and a lot of objectives and team work go into this one.
And, they have already announced that more downloadable map packs and characters are on the way.

There has always been voice communication.
I just remember a lot of you guys ^^^^^ing about UT3 and you couldn't talk or hear each other.
What do I need to get for online play then because I sure as hell don't have a headset or anything.

The only problem I had with beta was the wait to download the update which with the disk it flys through the online setup. And about the communication thing it was where nobody says nothing during the games and I said it was so quiet you could here crickets chirping.

That was just with UT3 though... it was an issue with the game, not the service.
You just need a bluetooth earpiece.
The online setup went really fast, definitely surprised me. I think we'll all communicate just fine.
I'm really excited about the online aspect of this, and definitely feel that this could be a major game for us all. There are lots of things you can do to keep it fun.
