The only way this could remotely relate to the original is if shredder is an utrom.......or the Oniel family!?!?.......oh god
Shredders never been an utrom in any of the versions though....comic or movies....unless I'm mistaken. He's definitely not in the original comic.

Shredder was Utrom in the 2k3 series. I just don't see much in the script that leads me to believe Kevin Eastman had any input into this movie. ugh. Poor Laird

So Shredder is a good guy, or at least trying to be one. Shredder is also no longer Japanese. Shredder and April's dad are the creators of the ooze. And the Turtles are wearing clothes. Wow, I think bay just wiped his *** with the source material so hard, my comics have **** stains on them.

Given what Bay did with Sentinel Prime, I would not put it past him. Splinter is the one behind all the chaos, and the Turtles must be reforged into weapons of justice by Not Shredder. April or Vernon will save the day and save the turtles, by leading the U.S. Military into a final fight against Splinter's stronghold. The turtles, will all be tied up, and waiting to be rescued.

As much as I am not a fan of ASM, most of those elements are at least taken from the Ultimate Universe. Especially the stuff about his dad. It was handled much better in the comic. But they at least tried. Right now, I'm hoping ASM Peter goes the way of his Ultimate counterpart, and Miles Morales gets his moment in the sun.

The Spider that bit him was. I think I remember in the Ultimate Universe Pete's dad ends p being responsible for Venom and Carnage. He was working on a cancer cure, and created the symbiote. Honestly, it has been so long since I read those stories, I am fuzzy on the big details. But I do know the spider was genetically modified in the Ultimate U. Norman created a bunch of different spiders hoping to recreate the one that made Pete. This is also how Miles got his powers.
