The Spider that bit him was. I think I remember in the Ultimate Universe Pete's dad ends p being responsible for Venom and Carnage. He was working on a cancer cure, and created the symbiote. Honestly, it has been so long since I read those stories, I am fuzzy on the big details. But I do know the spider was genetically modified in the Ultimate U. Norman created a bunch of different spiders hoping to recreate the one that made Pete. This is also how Miles got his powers.

There's a deleted scene (actually shown in the Japanese theatrical release) from ASM1 that shows Ben was tinkering with his son's DNA ala Ang Lee's Hulk. The fact that it didn't wind up as a deleted scene on the BR has me thinking they're still going with that.

Well, there's also the risk that this full diaper, so completely bastardizing the source material, could also completely destroy the value in the license, so don't get those hopes up too high. :lol

A **** movie won't bring tmnt down at all. Cartoon and comic are going strong. I would of thought Viacom and Kevin Eastman the creator of the turtles would put out a solid movie. All signs point to them knowing they might of ****ed up. Trailer hits Thursday and tmnt is a huge name. It's gonna be a shitstorm on that day with lots of mixes opinions and nerd rage.
Probaly the biggest mistake was getting bays dumbass involved and creating a massive panic by saying they are aliens. Idiot might if sunk the ship before it set sail.

So Shredder is a good guy, or at least trying to be one. Shredder is also no longer Japanese. Shredder and April's dad are the creators of the ooze. And the Turtles are wearing clothes. Wow, I think bay just wiped his *** with the source material so hard, my comics have **** stains on them.

I'm cool with April's dad linked to the ooze since he is recently becoming a notable character in Nick's TMNT and he IS a scientist in there too.

Interesting to see where they'll go with Shredder's connection. Are they dropping the whole Saki-Splinter/Yoshi rivalry?

We'll see. Most often the decisions are made from a financial basis by clueless people. Look at Sideshow. They offer a **** release with a botched likeness, head-scratch of a pose and piss poor paint apps and because nobody buys it, they think the license is dead.

I would be very bummed if they no longer had the yoshi vs. saki origin. I can't believe Eastman supported this project. It may turn out to he an OK movie but all signs indicate it will suck (director, storyline, designs, acting, etc.). Thankfully have IDW and the Nick toon still going strong. This movie shouldn't hinder the whole franchise.

Ever since seeing the Larry Hama supported GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, creator/artist/writer endorsements have meant jack **** other than they've sold out for big box office dollars. :lol

Here's one way to look at it:

Oroku Saki in the form of his "public business face" Eric Sachs is the leader of the New York division of the Foot Clan, as we all know them: a mercenary ninja clan who also dwells in other illegal criminal activities. As a BUSINESSMAN, it would be WISE for Sachs to INVEST in PRODUCTS that would give him a COMPETITIVE EDGE in both his public SACHS business and in the underground criminal world.

I hope they go the way that Sachs is merely the INVESTOR of Dr. O'Neil's "Ooze" and therefore can claim to be a "creator" because it was his money that helped fund April's father's research and development. He could also very well be the owner of TCRI/TGRI or one of its shareholders.

I think the ooze will be viewed as a "super-soldier serum" and it would be of HIGH INTEREST to someone like The Shredder to give his own private army, the Foot, a STRONG competitive edge. Sachs/Saki probably sees its ninja/strength potential which probably clashes with what is Dr. O'Neil is developing it for. Long story short, Dr. O'Neil escapes with the ooze after finding out who Sachs really is (or how he wants to use the ooze). Chase Scene. Dr. O'Neil chucks it, or gets killed and it rolls away, bumps into Yoshi, etc. etc. basically the ooze comes in contact with the characters in order to trigger their mutation.

I'm not throwing the idea completely out as bad. It has potential if the filmmakers use it right.

So they racelifted Shredder?

How come going from [insert ethnicity] to White is never as publicised as going from White to [insert ethnicity]?

The "it's a mask" but sounds funny. The falling on it's butt and can't get up bit does not.

Not liking the idea they they were created and not mutated turtles. Though it would make more sense to have them bred that size than having mutated from standard turtles to human sized turtles

It appears that way.

I theorized that it's possible he had plastic surgery to change his identity (since in some stories Shredder's New York Foot Clan is a rival to the "home base" Japanese Foot Clan) AND perhaps hide a deformity he suffered from Hamato Yoshi.

Also, it could just be a mask hiding the Japanese identity beneath (with scarred face).

OR...yeah, he's just a white dude now.

that looks like he is playing with himself....:horror

Because in Hollywood it's okay to change the ethnicity of a bad guy to white because going with the original ethnicity (i.e. Mandarin being Chinese) is racist.

I disagree here. Mandarin's original depiction in the comics is a racist portrayal of Asian stereotypes. Marvel/Disney were too chickenshit to redefine the character and make his modern portrayal less controversial. Instead, they opted to do what Disney always does. Cast a white person in a role that should have gone to a minority. They did it with all the main cast of Prince of Persia, and they did it again in to The Mandarin in IM3. Shredder has never been that way. Despite being the leader of an evil clan of ninjas, he has never been a racist portrayal of Asian culture or stereotypes. Shredder and Splinter's Asian heritage is pretty central to their character arcs. In fact it informs everything about the characters. From their honor bound hatred of one another, to their respective ways of training disciples/raising their adoptive children. This change was done probably like all the other changes, and the changes in the TF series of "films". Bay does not give a **** about the source material, and any and all projects are cash grabs, and a chance to kiss America's and the US Military's collective asses.

He's right. Making shredder white is probably the stupidest decision ive seen so far. The armor in itself looks completely badass so Im guessing we have to see but right now people have a right to be completely optimistic about this movie. A rumor is spreading that splinter is april's father. I'd probably throw up in the theater.

I guess he wanted to give Fitchner some work. :lol

I thought I remember reading that he was adopted, explaining why he is White and not Asian. As an adult he changed his name from Saki to Sachs when he came to America to separate himself from (or hide) his past?

I heard that too, and it's dumb. It's a lame justification as to why they hired the actor. Nothing about Shredder needed to be retconned or modernized. Like I said, there was nothing racist or stereotypical about the way he was always written.
