I don’t see how this is a train wreck…yet.

Movie looks fun, funny, cool action scenes, and everyone except for Shredder seems to be portrayed accurately.

Like Vintij once said in all his wisdom.

It's preordained :lecture

Or something like that :lol

Me, I wasn't expecting anything from this movie outside of the cool designs that I already liked and possible cool fight scenes.

Now it looks like the movie could be very fun.

I think they’re modernizing the turtles just as much as Batman, Iron Man, Captain America… pretty much every comic/cartoon property being made these days.

I don’t know why the turtles have to be 100% accurate to the cartoons and comics.

Modernization is to be expected, but some properties have been modernized to a ridiculous degree which (in some people's minds) ruins the movie. The feel for what made the original movie/show/character is lost because the concentration is focused on what the filmmakers think will make money. Transformers is probably the best example because the characters were practically indistinguishable from each other in the films and most had completely different personalities and looks from the cartoon. TMNT isn't as bad as TF from what I've seen so far but the changes (all if which have been brought up constantly in this thread) that have been made seem to be unnecessary. Hopefully it will be a fun movie that will make people enjoy it enough to let the ridiculous changes slide. I'm sure it will make a ton of money because it's being made to be the type of film that plays to the lowest common denominator of movie-goer. Doesn't mean it'll be a good movie. I'll still go see it even though my expectations are set very low. I'm hoping the writers will throw in a few bits that'll be a throwback to the TMNT I love.

Most changes when it comes to modernization are unnecessary, but even when they are necessary, fans will complain, i.e. the superhero trunks.

Trunks make no ****ing sense what so ever, yet some people still complain about no having them in recent iterations, and not even with all characters, they're picky with that too :lol

I don't have a problem with other people's opinions, if they don't like the new designs they're entirely within their right or whatever, but it's silly to try and pick on these designs, trying to rationalize the complaints, yet ignoring the fact that most of those same complaints fit to the original designs.

Does Michael Bay even google to see what the differences is with a ninja and a ****ing samurai?

That's nonsense. Obviously Leonardo or Donatello would be "plain".

Funny we went from "who finds her hot?" April in the first one to "that's absurdly hot" April in the new one.

10 year old me loved the original April, despite her decidedly ugly real name. Oddly, enough, as a kid I preferred her to the more traditionally (one might say 'obviously') attractive April from part 2.

I could never get myself behind the idea of humanoid turtles learning ninjutsu from a mutated rat in New York sewers...
And it looks like Michael Bay wasn't fond of it too cuz the movie looks way too modern for the franchise as 80s as this one.

yeah they had to modernize it I think, in order for it to work with Bay's direction

So, the "cheesy" Nick Turtles got nominated for an Emmy for best animated show. Knocked The Simpsons out of the running for the first time since they debuted.

None of that "modernization" was necessary and it's up for awards. Plus the number one selling boy's toy line. Funny how that works isn't it?
