He was larger than life....a person of heroic proportions....but heroic in a courageous sense...that I'm not so sure about.

There are several aceptions for the term hero apart from courageous...but I guess it's a little subjective and depends on the point of view as someone's already said. For me if somebody can and DO something for his/her fellow beings without expecting anything back, that makes him/her a hero

It's OK if you hate Michael's music, or his dancing, or his voice, or his looks...
What's not OK is to well... assuming, just because it was on CNN...
