He was a much larger-than-life character that many little kids (including myself) looked up to. Not that this makes him a hero, but as much so as a great baseball player might be. For the record, in the late-80s, my favorite baseball player was Mark McGwire. He, along with Dale Murphy and Larry Bird, were my "sports heroes" at the time. Doesn't mean they rescued pets and crippled children from fires or anything.

Do you know who Ian Halperin is?
And his history in reporting false information about Jackson?...
of course you don't!!...

It's hilarious how he says, "sources", "friends"... etc...
but not a single name...
Please people... use your brain!!!
I think he posted that because it said Jackson didn't want to settle out of court. I do agree that the article is basically tabloid junk though.

Childhood hero, Really? What was so heroic about him. Please tell.

I see it just fine. It's footage of Michael from the Thriller video with text saying GO AWAY!

This thread is indeed disgusting, not only is our childhood hero gone, which is sad as it is allready, but i feel so sorry for his 3 Children that just lost their father, imagine the rough time they are going through right now.

SOME Members here have posted some REALLY disgusting comments, some people i found kinda cool earlier.

Maybe he was YOUR childhood hero, but please don't confuse that by saying OUR childhood hero.

Like I was just explaining to my good buddy somewhere... Michael Jackson, apparently, is a hot topic like religion or politics on this board. Maybe Dave should ban all MJ topics since it seems like a really hard topic for folks to discuss.

I am sure when he said "our" he was speaking on behalf of people who feel this thread has degenerated from its purpose. Not an all inclusive "our", like you seem to have taken it.

These make him extremely charitable and a great humanitarian but they don't make him heroic.
