this is an odd choice. I though it would be the surveyor or dark grey suit outfits

I personally do not feel it odd.

This movie still is as synonymous for me as any other throughout the film.

The more I look at it, the more I realize that this outfit does not do Daniel Plainview "Oil Man" any justice. It needs to give off the impression of an Oil Tycoon in the making! Quail Suit is not cutting it. It looks as if he's on "holiday" and even though it was the suit used to con the family and survey the land it's a very weak reference point for Daniel Plainview. He still needed to convince the surrounding families and community and he did not do that in a Quail Suit.

:cuckoo:

Was this not the part where he became 'made' :dunno

Actually he didn't need to convince them of anything. Sure he wanted them onside but he was going ahead with or without their support.

The key moment was finding the earthquake oil with H.W. and screwing the Sunday family over in quail hunt attire :)

In your own words this was the making of the man.

Made? What are you talking about. First off the family knew all along that the had oil, they just didn't have resources to get it out of the ground. That quail suit was just the passing through outfit, but it's when he adresses the community with his speech that's when he becomes "made" if that's the term you want to use.

Dude, just admit that you want a 1/6 scale gun.

You said in the making, I said made.

For me Plainview arrived when he sealed the deal with the Sunday family. He did this is in his quail hunt suit.

Yes I realise the Sunday family were aware of the oil underground, but he screwed them over! He made a ridiculous offer and that was accepted in desperation. He prayed on their poverty.

The community held no sway over Daniel. He addressed the community to get them onside. He was going to drill whether they liked it or not. He just wanted their support for an easier life I suspect. They certainly didn't make him.

I meant what I said earlier. I will buy Plainview whatever attire Rainman chooses.

This release is as important to me as Alex, The Dude and Bill.

I will buy whatever!

Teddy, it's your personal choice to want Quail Suit and your entitled to it, but if you were really paying attention to the movie than you would know that Daniel's "Con" was portraying a Father to H.W and selling that to the people, that was the con factor, not some Quail suit, so maybe convincing Rainman to do a 1/6 H.W. would make more sense.

But you have changed the subject altogether :cuckoo:

Please don't insult my intelligence. I am well aware that Daniel 'used' H.W. for the benefit of himself and his oil drilling business. We wasn't talking about that.

Somebody help me, I can't find one single YouTube video with the "Quail Suit" scene. A whole lotta oil though. If you have a link to "Quail Suit" please link it. I want to be inspired by this outfit.

"Milkshake" Cardigan outfit with bowling pin
(Would have to add a stuble beard to the sculpt)

Oil weathered Daniel Plainview
(But hatted sculpt won't be required)

Classic Charcoal with pocket watch combo.

Survey Coat/Outfit

But it's Rainmans "decision" and Quail Suit has been confirmed according to Teddy.

I'd only want Ol' Man Plainview in the cardigan if he were to tackle another look. I'd take just about any other look as a first option with an oily look way down in last.

The Quail hunt jacket can be made into several looks. If you take the vest off it's the outfit he wears when he smacks the ____ outta Eli when he's approached about his money. If you add a greyish/blue shirt and tie it's the I'll cut your throat scene as well as when he's talking ____ to all the late prospectors arriving on the train.

Haven't seen the film in a bit, definitely need a refresher. I'm more particular to an Oily Plainview because I like the idea of a unique looking figure and it really screams Oil Man to me. But I'll take Woffords word on the Quail suit giving multiple looks. After all he's the TWBB don dada!

Ol' Man Plainview can definitely be squeezed out of this, and if Rainman adds the stubble effect, I can certainly live with the fact that it's a revised bill. "Milkshake Man"'is the project title.

But an Oil Daniel bash is certain for me if Rainman offers the non hatted sculpt
