Jamie Lee Curtis was hanging off flying vehicles way before Cruise was…

Cruise is still amazingly crazy. I just figured all of this was green screened.

Hard to believe after three weeks this movie (a freakin Mission Impossible movie) has been pushed down to just one small screen in all my local theaters. I was really wanting to see it again, but at this rate I might as well wait to watch it at home, since it would be about the same experience. Lol

I think opening this movie when they did might go down as one of the biggest miscalculations a studio has ever made. Especially considering it's an actual great, well-reviewed movie, unlike all the other duds this year.

I just saw this (finally) and while the plot was rather thread bare and it seemed to just be several long action sequences stitched together I still quite enjoyed it. I was rather dismayed to see
Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson) die off, and I felt it was rather tasteless to replace her with a new love interest for Ethan this late in the series. But given her replacement was the delicious Grace/Hayley Atwell that feeling quickly passed lol.
I thought Hayley was phenomenal, as was Pom Klementieff as the psycho assassin girl. I didn't even mind her switching sides at the end - after Ethan spared her and Gabriel stabbed her and left her for dead, it worked for me.

Leaving the theater I saw a part of the Barbie Brigade heading to their screens. One young lady in a pink, skin-tight micro dress probably would have fit right in with Wor-Gar's supermodel group. Alas, there were a few older women who had no business wearing the pink yoga pants they were sporting. I found myself wishing I had Gabriel's knives so I could stab out my eyes!!! :horror

Quite an incredible interview with McQ that unfortunately is behind a paywall but well worth the time and money. I’m only about half way through this 3hr marathon and they are planning to do several of these, wow. A ton of interesting detail. I hope they get to do the more serious projects he hints at.

Edit:
McQ referenced this GIF specifically in the interview above when describing how to make an MI film:

Really? The sixth one felt like the latter Bond films, namely Spectre and/or No Time to Die. Bloated and meandering and not very engaging. They need to step up to compete in a John Wick world IMO.
Yeah it kind of did

Sound of Freedom has made more than MI domestically! :thud:

Yup. Mission is franchise fatigue and SOM is not a superhero movie.

Doesn't take much to work it out. Maybe a bit of common sense... something Hollywood is sorely lacking these days. :slap

A lead actor that spouts Q garbage in a highly volatile society resulting in tons of free press doesn't hurt either lol

From what I’ve heard or read, his Q-crap was years ago so not really getting free press for this film.

However Rolling Stone and other like minded news mag and papers basically calling this a conspiracy film or conspiracy light and pointing out that the actor use to do the Q- crap stuff helps fuel the fires also. Lol

It's a snake eating it's own tail at this point lol. I just see what looks interesting to me. I'm not a fan of heavy movies that deal in child abduction/abuse/sex issues. "Taken" being the outlier cuz Liam Neeson kicking ass.

Despite the fanfare, Mission Impossible falls back to B-level franchise fare.

Breaking a slim story into two bloated parts was a big mistake. Over-selling your big stunt was a big mistake. Having that be your only 'big stunt' was a big mistake. They're also overdoing the long tracking shot of Tom running.
