So Twitter says Cubs and Giants are the finalists for Jon Lester. If so I hope the decision is soon. The College of Cardinals pick a pope in a shorter amount of time than Lester picks a team.

Also, St. Pete is going to "allow" the Rays to explore other areas for a new stadium in places like Pinellas and Hillsborough counties or probably Montreal.

Good I'm glad Lester got that much for that many years. Don't get me wrong I really wanted him back with the sox. I didn't want them to trade him or let him test free agency. This ownership group is stupid and arrogant. 4 yrs 70 mil? I would have been insulted if I was in Lester's position. I hope he wins a cy young and a World Series in Chicago. I am gonna lose it if they trade for come hamels now.

While it's sad to see Lester go, I'm somewhat relieved with this result. The Cubs and Giants went far beyond what I would have wanted the Red Sox to offer. Good for him for getting paid. Time for Ben to get back to work.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of paying any baseball player that much , especially with what happened with zito, but I can't see why he went with the Cubs. Hopefully, SF will still end up getting a good starter by the start of the season.

I doubt the Cubs will be anywhere near contention until he's half way through the contract and I'm not sure what he'll have left at 35. Most players won't admit it, but the money has to play a big role in these decisions. If you're playing in the NL West for LA, SF or SD nearly 100 games are being taxed at California's high rates. It's probably not the sole reason for someone not signing with one of these teams, but it may be something that's thought about.

reports state SF offered at least $150 mill. He must really love that Epstein or whatever his name is. Reminds me when Peyton Manning chose Denver over 49ers. 49ers were a sure thing, but went cause of Elway.

I'd look on the bright side. SF has been the model organization for the past five years, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Throwing $150+ million at 31-year-old pitchers rarely works out in the long run.

I know, they just need to get another starting pitcher soon. I was hoping they would get Gordon or Kemp from LA, but that's not gonna happen, but I'm sure LA doesn't want to help SF get better. SF needs a left fielder and 3B just as bad. Some how, they usually find a way to win with less.....

Royals finally did something. Nothing anyone should really notice and the Cards outside of Heyward have been quiet.
