Wanted to start a thread to discuss October baseball. As a Masachusetts boy, I'm rooting for my Sox to go all the way again, and they're off to a great start with Josh Beckett pitching a shut out game and a 1-0 lead in the series, after winning the division for the first time in 12.

It was great to see Josh dominate a good lineup tonight. I told everyone at work to avoid me if we lost this game because I would not be a pleasant person to be around so it'll be hard to wipe the smile off my face the rest of the week.

I'll be in NY this weekend, proudly sporting my Sox hat

Beckett was awesome 2nite!!! I love the Sox,but alas I also love the Cubbies.
A world series between the Sox and the Cubs would be great for baseball,but realistically I don't see it happening,but who knows?

He was really struggling towards the end of the season. I hope it was just a bit of a dead arm and he's recovered.

Yeah, I think he was just fatigued and will be fine with the extra rest. His fastball didn't have much movement during the last part of the season and that was causing lots of HRs. I guess we'll find out on Friday.

Indeed, I'm a bit nervous. However, I hadn't thought of the fact that the Japan leaguers aren't used to the air travel and the number of games we play in the states, so I think a good part of his struggles were adjusting to our style of play here, but I'm also worried people haven't learned his style and are figuring out how to hit it. For the millions they pumped into him, I hope it pays off. After last night's spectacular catch, I hope they put Jacoby Elsbury in right for J.D. "Two Double Plays" Drew, man he SUCKS!!

Angels fan here, I agree Beckett did a great job and we looked played really flat but if we can take one game in Boston I like our chances.

Angels definitely need Guerrero to step up big time for them to get their offense going against us, but earlier this season he definitely didn't have it. I think Friday's game should be a nice, competitive matchup, I don't think either team will control the game like last night, Dice-K's good but unless he somehow has the magic from April he won't be like Beckett was, and then hopefully The Blogger can deliver for the Sox in game 3.

I thought I heard somewhere that Guerrero was playing hurt? For that matter, I think quite a few Angels are hurt as well.... That was a classic performance for Beckett, I tip my hat to the guy. I think Dice-k might have run out gas towards the end of the season, he also didn't get too much run support in several games, if I remember right.

Guerrero is hurt, but he was still their big offensive threat last night, but he needs bigger hits. I give the guy credit, he can make hits happen when you wouldn't think it possible so he could be a threat. Angels are a bit injury ridden and you almost feel bad if a team loses out in playoffs due to that, but it's definitely a test of a team's resolve. Curt Schilling and the bloody ankle took us all the way in '04, we rose above everything in our way and made it happen, and I see it going that way again this year, we have a great team and this year is all about making statements, starting with Division Champs!

After last night's spectacular catch, I hope they put Jacoby Elsbury in right for J.D. "Two Double Plays" Drew, man he SUCKS!!

Ellsbury has quickly become one of my favorite players. I wish I had gotten the chance to see him play in Portland, for the Sea Dogs, earlier this year (I live about 20 minutes from the ballpark). I expected him to play most of the season here, but he was tearing it up and got called up to Pawtucket in no time.
