Can I get a hell yeah on our sweep of the Angels?
I was on the train back home from NY but my friend was texting me updates. Now I can relax until Friday night and hopefully watch the Tribe and Yanks beat the hell out of each other.

So sorry Caedus, but every single frickin' Angels fan I know ANNOYS THE HELL OUTTA ME!!
Now, if Cleveland can just dig down and find the stuff to overcome NY at Yankee stadium and not necesitate game 5, I'd be thrilled, though giving my Sox plenty of rest is nice too.

I know how much everyone hates the Yankees, but I wanted them to win in the 1st round because there is nothing more fun in baseball then watching a Red Sox/Yankees ALCS. It's more fun than the World Series IMO.

I can agree with that, in fact, the 2004 ALCS was SO exciting, I was actually disappointed in the World Series until we won, we swept without any challenge and it felt like "what the hell" after working our ***** off to beat NY. That said, I'll take either case, but there would be some satisfaction in seeing NY turn out to not even be good enough to get past ALDS.

I will give you that, greatest rivalry is baseball right now. Just as long as the Yankees lose. Just read on yahoo! sports that steinbrenner gave torre a nice little "you win or you're out proposition"....should be interesting

Ya, Torre has an ultimatum now, win or go home. I think he's done anyhow, he only succeeds cuz his lineup is stacked; Francona makes all stars with average.

Torre doesn't win because the lineup is stacked. The Yankee teams that won titles were from mostly home grown talent. As soon as they decided they needed to sign every high $$$$ FA is when they started losing in the playoffs.
Torre is a class act who deserves better that the owner he has to deal with. If you watch Torre this year he just looks "tired". He looks worn out from it all. I think he;d move on from NY even IF they won it all and I would not blame him.

Did the Yankees when he got there? He managed a team to titles that had guys like Charlie Hays, Gerardie ( sp ) and other important ROLE players. Jeter, Bernie Williams, Any P., Posada and the like were ALL home grown, farm system talent. They made SMART trades like getting Tino and Paul O'Neal who were TEAM guys.
Then management decided they needed to get every big name on the market and that's when it went downhill. That's not Torre's fault. I think calling him the Phil Jackson of baseball is not only unfair, but flat out wrong.
Yankees suck! Sorry, I'm a Boston fan, it's in my blood to say that lol. Much as the rivalry would have given something to the ALCS, I'm enjoying seeing the Yankees' season come crashing like that.
