Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics
He talks to Ras after his beating. "I'm not going to kill you, but I don't have to save you."
That delivery is badass and intimidating. Minutes before Ras was boxing and kicking his head in. Before that Batman got beat down by Nijas and people drugged by the fear toxin.
So let me ask you - do you think this is realistic? It might be badass, but that doesn't mean it's realistic.
You get one or the other - in the first movie, you get badass. In the second, you get realistic. And when you think about it, that kind of plays into the themes of the movies - the first is about this rise of an epic legend - and the second is all about dragging him down into the mud.
Or does everyone just not "get it"?
Honestly, I think that those people who do complain about it just aren't realizing that Bale is informing his choice of voice with what's happened to his character, chronologically. It's understandable to make that mistake - ever since superheroes have been in movies, they've always been larger than life and unrealistic in everything, including fundamentals like the way they carry themselves.
As viewers, we're just not immediately used to this kind of thing. We're not used to them having issues with their voice or mannerisms after big fights - because we're used to seeing them bounce back up like nothing's happened.
It's a film first and foremost, not a ____ing "REAL" documentary.
Yeah, but you have to realize that one of Nolan's core goals with these films are showing the realistic effects of a comic book hero - both in himself and how he would behave, as well as how it affects the society around him. Fundamentally, "The Dark Knight" isn't about Batman vs. the Joker - it's about what Batman would be like in the real world and how society would react to someone like him.
