Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Actually did he say 'no Riddler" or just 'no Edward Nygma'?

Little did they all know that the Riddler was to appear in the next Batman film with the secret identity of............Maxwell Nygma!

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

The weird part is I remember on a dark knight website there was a letter that Edward Nashton (I think) wrote to the Gotham Times.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Ledger gave a performance of a lifetime and we may never see this again, he is the only joker in my eyes. But i'm not giving up on nolan just yet, but i'm upset no riddler yet.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

He would really have to do something extraordinary with the Riddler to make it work. His character has been done before in films many times, and I'm afraid of the film becoming too cliche if it relies on that typical cryptic, detective storytelling.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

^^^ You make a good point dom.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I would disagree. There is nothing that has to be extroardinary about it. All he has to do is make the Riddler realistic, a good opponent for Batman, good storyline, and make him the suited genius with crazy traps and riddles that we want.

And honestly, Batman is hardly a detective these days. It would be a breath of fresh air. Not to mention that it wouldn't ONLY revolve around detective work.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Well I wouldn't hold my breath for the Riddler being in the film or the title changing. As I recall from his past films when Nolan announces any information about a movie he's doing, it doesn't seem to change. Of course it's possible, but I doubt it. As for the villains, the most likly suspects to me are Deadshot, Blackmask, and Catwoman (since they killed Rachel off they'll probably throw in a new love interest).

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

No offense, I'm sort of happy that he said no riddler. That just means that alot of the obvious speculation just flew out the window.

He has something bigger then 3rd movie, new villain. What a relief.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Well if he doesn't use Catwoman or the penguin then what's the point. I thought the only thing "batman-ish" about TDK was Heaths Joker and that barely. Don't get me wrong I really liked most of the movie, but it was barely "batman". Maybe they should just ditch the bat suit and make it another goodfellas? I hate when a character is called Penguin once in an entire movie and bares no resemblance to the character. Come on Nolan, give us Batman! Terrible title by the way.

Oh and tell Bale, no shouting at the camera in a ridiculous voice this time, it's not acting and is unintentionally funny.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

^ I have to disagree, TDK was extremely 'Batman'.

- You had an incredible Joker
- You had a really well done Harvey Dent/Two Face story arc
- You had the mob
- You had Batman's detective skills shown
- You had more cool Batman gadgets

It was very Batman IMO - And If there was anyone in the world i'd want to make another Batman movie, it'd be Nolan.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I agree that it was very much the realm of batman.

But it really wasn't so much a batman movie. It was really the story of Harvey Dent. I have no problem with this at all.. It's just as important to the batman world. It shows the consequences of someone other then Bruce Wayne trying to change the atmosphere of Gotham.

I'd like to see more of batman in this next one, and I think that'll be a perfect conclusion.

And who said anything about just a villain being called something in a suit. Every Nolan villain has been pretty much a pretty stylized version of the character. You got scarecrow in his mask, and then on the horse with the straight jacket thing. You got Ras and the league of shadows in some sort of ninja armour. You get the Joker in a cheap purple suit and make up. You got a battle damaged t-800 harvey dent in a burnt up suit.

I'm not sure it could've been done much differently with out it being tacky...

And somehow Bale's batman from Bbegins to TDK got alot more ridiculous with the voice. Let's hope this is a metaphor for the Dark Knight Rising into his position. That joker guy really stressed him out. Maybe now he'll speak more in a whisper.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I'm fully agreeing with Seditionary about more Batman on the third movie. Begins was great, it was totally focused on Batman and Bruce. The Dark Knight was a Batman movie yes, but somehow he was like just a supporting character.

I want to see more from Bruce and Batman, like when he remembers his parents and still feels their lost etc. In TDK the connection to his parents was completely lost. So I hope it will get more in the way of Begins and with a dramatic end.

And as for no Riddler, I'm not that said about it. I want to see some other villains. Not always the same. Joker and Two-Face were a must. Personally I'm also interested in the pinguin, he's an interesting character, but if he's not in the movie, i won't be sad either. So I'm happy when some new villains will come in the movie.

I'm loving these fanart-pics:

^^^ Very cool. Who's the guy with the bandages?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Goes to show how little I actually know about the DC comic universe. I have several toys from the Hush series, but never knew about the Hush main character!

I like the idea of superhero's and love the imagery associated with it, but I'm just not a comic guy. And thus I'm not a stickler for comic book accuracy... which is probably why I love Burton's Penguin.

Interesting that Black Mask and Hush both have connections to Bruce's past. I like where people are going with this. I think that without The Riddler this move has the potential to be even darker than TDK. With a happier ending of course.

Yeah, same here. I just can't get into the comic books. My love of Batman comes from the animated series and motion picture films. I've read a few comics here and there (Year One, Detective Comics, Knightfall etc.) but I just can't get into them.

The only comics I read religiously were the Batman Adventures which focused on BTAS. That's it really.

I always thought Hush was Jason Todd but I guess he's another childhood friend of Bruce Wayne.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I doubt black mask will be in the movie.

And I personally liked Bale's Batman voice. The fierce growling is preferable for me than someone like Michael Keaton just saying in a normal voice that he's Batman.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I don't want it to happen but Black Mask is looking more and more likely each day. I'd say you're wrong.

I had no problem with Bale's Batman voice in Begins except maybe the "IT'S NOT WHO I AM UNDERNEATH, BUT WHAT I DOOOOOO THAT DEFINES ME" speech. He looked like a fat growling buffoon on his haunches in that particular scene.

In TDK though, it's just inappropriate and laughable to me. I mean I can still enjoy Batman but there is no denying that there's something wrong with it. They over did it and it's a common critique for MOST people, so it must be noticeable and true.

By the way, the '89 Batman did have a separate voice from his Bruce Wayne one. Only at the end when he loses his composure when up against the Joker does he sound like Bruce Wayne/Keaton.
