Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics
The Dark Knight 1/6 figure talk is getting stale. I've grown tired of seeing the same discussions about leaking abs, broken eyes, custom vs. company produced figures and prices. Does anyone else feel the same way?
TDK has gone way beyond
ad nauseam.
At this point I think everyone has had a very good run when it comes to TDK and action figure collectibles be it from your favorite customizer, your toy company and/or collectible company. I've been saying it for about two years now but new discussions have definitely run it's course.
I'm looking forward to '89 Batman collectibles and TDKR film and collectibles because atleast then we'll have some fresh, genuine discussions about things we love (before that goes to hell too).
You guys don't feel silly going on and on about the same things day in and day out? How is it not getting old? Let it be then come back to TDK cloud 9 in a few more years. I guarantee you won't be abandoning it and that you'll have even more love for it if you "rediscover it" in a few years.

While on the subject of the Bruce Wayne head (which, ironically is in the
DX thread which doesn't come with a
Wayne head) I'm actually with Maglor on this one, sorry Nam. That head is clearly better than the Hot Toys version. I'm a fan of Weller and Robocop and when I saw that head I never even thought of them.
Do I think the Hot Toys version is
bad though? Hell no. I think it's fine and I've always liked it. The only problem I ever had with it was the sculpt of the hair, not the size of the head or likeness. It's too short and not detailed, like Hot Toys slapped a slick cap on him and called it a day. Being an "early" sculpt from 2008, I think it's pretty damn good though. It's not really fair to compare it to something so recent with 4 plus years of references and sources. Keep in mind Hot Toys sculpted theirs in 2007/early 08 while Adam's is very recent.
With that said, it's not better than that Adam head, that head is SWEET. I have a hard time finding flaws with it. Then again, I'd say it's a tad too big and I dare someone to post a picture of it with a
paint job and
texture that rivals Hot Toys factory paint for portraits and eyes. Sculpt wise, there is no competition.
But then again, WHO CARES?
1. TDKR is coming.
There's going to be sooo many 1/6 portraits that will put those these heads we're discussing in the "obsolete" category.
If Adam can improve, then so can Hot Toys. That goes for
everyone else that will be producing a Bale head in the coming years in response to TDKR. If you don't think so, you're only fooling yourself.
2. Bale cowled (Batman) >>>>>>>> Boring Bale Bruce
Personally, I've never been too fond of owning a Bruce Wayne figure, outside of smaller figures, i.e. 5" and 6". Yeah, yeah "gotta have a Bale bro" but I could give two ____s about a 1/6 "unmasked" Batman or, hell, a Bruce in a business suit.
You know where a good chunk of extra heads go? BACK IN THE BOX. I know I'm not alone here either. Unless it's something radically different like a battle damaged head (Terminators) or Joker or something REALLY unique it's going to be admired for a few seconds and then get placed back in the tray, cabinet, feet of the figure.
It's happened to my Takara, my Hot Toys, most anything 1/6 I own. If you have a
cowled Bale from both films, you're pretty much set.
How did we get on topic of Bruce Wayne heads anyway?
Ehh, the Bale head sucks anyways... it's tiny and can't stand up to today's sculpts. Have mine in my bin somewhere.
Oh . . .
