Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I've taken several pics of my OC and depending on the camera settings, there were some that made it appear glossy, while in hand, it has a matte finish. I think it has a lot to do with the camera.
It doesn't bother me cause if you want a true screen representation, then the matte finish is correct.
The shiny glossy batsuit is more like Kilmer's suit in batman forever.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

My white rubber Major Matt Mason just celebrated his 44th birthday and disagrees profoundly with that statement.

My SSC 12" Creature from the Black Lagoon's rubber suit shows no signs of decay either despite only being $45 over the Buck. A shame that a figure that costs 4x as much has these issues.

I'm very new to the Hot Toys world, and I've started looking around for this Batman for my new collection. After researching the product though, the oil issue seems to be common. What was the purpose of the oil in the first place? Does it actually seep out of pieces of the costume, or seep out of the seams?

After seeing how common this issue seems to be, and the current asking price, I'm considering waiting to see if HT gets the license for Dark Knight Rises and picking up that one, but with my luck it wouldn't be as nice.

There're two oils. There's the lubricant which was used to get the suit over the TrueType initially and then there's the seepage of the suit actually decomposing (the layers that form the rubber breaking down)from not being cured correctly. Several people have reported no issues with their DCD run. Several people have. Several people have issues but chose to live with it. And still, several people are in denial. It's a mixed bag really. :lol

The camera always lies.

Very good to know. It does seem, from what I'm reading, figures from the DCD run are mostly problem free. What I haven't seen much of is how can you tell which batch you're getting your figure from? Is there any difference in packaging?

So far as I know, just the figure itself having a harder plastic ab plate vs. the pliable rubber one that the previous runs had. I've heard mumblings about the shipper saying DC but I think all of them said that.

The one's that has a plastic bag over the whole belt is the one you don't want.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Though a douchy seller can easily remove it. :huh

Or nick a DCD figure photo and lie about it. It would have to have a clear plastic divider behind the front of the belt to really prove it was. You know how some people don't do these things.

And my OC Batman is pretty much perfect as well

You've probably rarely man handled it, hence it's still looking good. As well as it being in a smoke free environment?... lack of sun... lack of dust... lack of aerosol cans being sprayed everywhere and stable cool room temperatures... say 19 - 23c.

That doesn't mean anything. The second run had that failed fix too. :(

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Every time I go into the For Sale section or ebay its always 'DC batch' Batman. How come no ones selling leaky Batmans, or are they just not admitting to it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

The only thing riskier than rubber figures is USED rubber figures. I got an OC Batman that looked great in the pic and looked totally funky when I received it. I asked the seller why there was a weird film on the rubber surface. He said he didn't know - he took great care of all his figures, even wiped them down with Wet Wipes before he shipped! :lol :slap

-The abs are hard plastic.

-If it includes (or the seller has and can take pics of) the shipper box, then it should say "Diamond Comics Distributors" on it. Diamond is responsible for distribution in the US, and will not be listed on the shipper for the Asian releases.

Not sure about any release in Europe, though - if those figures are released there, they probably are DCDirect batch, but may not be from Diamond (so you could have a false negative there).

Every time I go into the For Sale section or ebay its always 'DC batch' Batman. How come no ones selling leaky Batmans, or are they just not admitting to it.

The majority of leaky figures were probably sold off right away (when the third batch was coming out, confirmed to have different abs).

I've also seen plenty on Ebay that weren't DC Direct batch - you just tend to notice the ones that say they are, because the seller makes a point to include that in the title (since it's obviously a huge selling point).

I'd also suspect that there were more total figures produced in the DCDirect batch (a much larger total market).

And then of course, there are some liars...

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Still could be hard to tell.

I got a DCD version but my box doesn't say that or does it have Diamond Distributors I don't think cause I got mine from Toys2. I then sent it back to Eric for a replacement body. He sent it back to HTs and they shipped me back the DCD hard ab version.

So there could be multiple scenarios with this figure :huh

Diamond is responsible for distribution in the US, and will not be listed on the shipper for the Asian releases.

They were responsible for distribution of the third run. However, pieces of both the first two runs were ordered and distributed by retailers in the U.S. too.

Exactly, hence my comment about the false negatives. The lack of a "Diamond Distributors" text on the box doesn't prove it's not from the third batch, but if it IS there, then it is from the third batch.

They were responsible for distribution of the third run. However, pieces of both the first two runs were ordered and distributed by retailers in the U.S. too.

But not by Diamond. Hence the necessity of the text, and not just the assurance that it was "Bought in the US."

Still love this figure. Was doing some rearranging, and he was sitting on my desk... Had to snap a pic:
