Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Believe me I was aware of the danger of that the whole time I was working on that pose. It's the reason it took me days to get right. I believe I got it right anyway. There is a very fine line between "flaming" and statuesque with the Contrapposto pose. It's easily the hardest pose I have ever worked with.

BTW, I knew I was still gonna get gehy jokes, just wasn't sure who it would be. Congrats. ;)

There's like this, effeminate attitude to it. Sort of this, effeminate, "bad assth" pose. I know you know what I mean because you yourself mentioned how cautious you were to avoid it.

That last one is better.

@Karnis, looks like Superman beat the hell out of the Avengers.

Do you believe Michelangelo's David is effeminate?

Regardless, I love the pose and it's renewed my love for the figure.

Damn. Stole the thunder just as I feared. The last pose took about 5 minutes btw.

Puffed up? That's the flattest I can get it to lay. :dunno

Nice pose Maglor, must admit it doesn't look like a pose that should take days to nail but then I guess the simple ones are the hardest to get perfect

Re: Hot Toys - MMS152 - Superman: 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure

Every joint was worked with including both torso sections independently, especially the lower one.

It's easy to bend an elbow, raise an arm or turn a head. The minute tweaks are much more tricky.

Well said man!

You're Superman is a beautiful example of getting the most out of a great piece like this - awesome! :clap

I would also just like to point out, that whether people realize it or not, we all stand Contrapposto from time to time, some more than others. You would have to make a conscious effort not to, as it's the most natural and effortless way for the structure of our body to stand while at rest. That is, according to my college art history teacher :lol

Excellent work on the pose, Mag :duff

Lol, those pics are hilarious...

but wrong. Supes would take out Cap and Iron Man...but he'd have some problems with Thor considering he has a weakness to magic.

:exactly: plus Thor could fly around the universe, find some green kyptonite and shove it down Supes' thoat.

Yep. When I stand to look at my collection it feels unnatural to have my weight balanced evenly between both legs. We all shift our weight to one side much/most of the time. I wouldn't want every figure in my collection doing it, but I like it one this one. And again, it's renewed my appreciation for the figure.

Excellent pose Mags, one of the best yet. :) Don't think it looks feminine at all actually.

Appreciate it. :)

Man, I love that kid.
