I can't wait til someone makes a DiCaprio Riddler!

I still can't believe that Nolan never did a Riddler story. He and his brother love to craft smart scripts that revolve around mysteries. The whole movie could have been one giant riddle. It seems right up their alley...

But they blew their load with Joker... the tricks and twists and double-crosses are too similar to something Riddler would do.

Not necessarily. The Riddler isn't about chaos. He's about the opposite, actually. Everything he does has a solution and a clear-cut reason. Just think of Nolan crafting an entire mystery that Batman and the audience could compete to solve.

Hot Toys at its best :lol

Disclaimer: I find it pathetic to undress figures just to see them naked lol

So does Joker. That's the joke. He claims to be about chaos but he's very orchestrative; everything is set up like dominos, pre-planned. He lies, that's the point. When he tells Batman that Rachel is at X street but its Dent; when he allows himslf to be caught; the bomb in the thug... everything Joker does is planned. He lies. Like when he tells the story about how he got his scars. He wants others to be in chaos... but he is the master manipulator. That's pretty much where you'd end up with Riddler. That's why Nolan didn't use Riddler.

Yup. Best example of this is when he's "telling" the people on the two ferry boats about the bombs and what they have to do. He's READING that entire speech off a piece of paper. That's forethought/planning and completely contradicts the whole "I just do things" persona The Joker tries to convey.

Yessir!

However I'd love a screen Riddler along the lines of Moriarty in Sherlock

Perhaps. Especially in the Dark Knight universe. Joker's not nearly as organized in the comics.

But I still think there's a definitive line between the two. The Riddler is all about outwitting people, Batman specifically. While Joker might enjoy proving his point, he's all about the end result. The Joker is a mad dog and about death and bringing people to a frenzy. The Riddler is organized, meticulous, and egotistical. He's all about himself.

While the Joker wants to see the world burn, the Riddler wants to see himself on top of the world.

Much like he did Memento or the Prestige, a Nolan film wrapped in mystery with the Riddler at its center would be right in his comfort zone, and would have perhaps led to a less formulaic third film.
