Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

Why shocked? Many Hot Toys sculpts get revealed prior to release exactly the same way. Indiana Jones, Resident Evil Alice, Bespin Luke, etc... Those three are just ones that I happen to already own.

What shocks me is that anyone can look at those pictures and not see within a few seconds that it's the same sculpt. I can't recall ever reading about any Hot Toys figure close to release where any kind of fake or alternate non-release head suddenly showed up.

I'm giving my opinion. I'm not saying I'm right. This very well could be the final HT head sculpt for Catwoman. If it is, it is.

However, those who definitively say this is the real HT head sculpt, please make sure to re-post that you were wrong when and if it turns out to not be the real HT head sculpt. And I'm not trying start trouble. My point is, no one here can say with absolute certainty that this is the real HT head sculpt.

The shape of the lips don't match, so there's that.

You are absolutely right! I am not sure but for me is a custom head...

No one needs to point that out, every post on this forum is opinion-filled. We have a difference of opinion here and your opinion shocked me. ;)

I'll be the first one to admit that of course. But if you take a look at some other threads, you'll see that even after a product is released, and it should be clear to everyone that previous images were genuine, some folks are still going to argue that some photos were fakes or customs. You can see in this very thread that it still happens in regards to the Bespin Luke DX07. There was never any alternate nor fake head sculpt shown for that, only bad photos.

Anything can be made to look bad under unflattering light and poor photography, just like the reverse is true. I'm not making judgement on the quality of any product until I see the final, I'm just pointing out that these photographs are all of the same sculpt. Based on HT track record, I'm anticipating it's going to look very good in hand.

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

It's the same head sculpt

Well, its definitely not a 'out of the box' final product sculpt. This thing was swiped off a conveyor belt, or however they put these things together. It does not represent the product we'll be receiving.

:slap

Not the sculpt, that's one of those Kumik sculpts.

Dear god...so much denial about authenticity of pics ... Of a friggin doll!

Yes, but a very expensive, highly anticipated, ridiculously delayed doll.:wink1:

Agreed of course. Looking at poor photos is also not the same thing as quality ones and far from in-hand observance.

We may never know the source or purpose of some of these images, but the most important take-away is that it's very likely the mask will in fact be removable on the shipping product. It could always still be glued in place, but that doesn't seem as likely.

No one said there was. You repeatedly assume things, based on a comment or two..

When I brought up Bespin Luke - yes, it was regarding the bad photos, not some reference to a fake head or bootlegs confounding people - of course that was the gist.

The 'Anne' head in question.. is a separate thing. You think the maskless one is the same head? :lol :monkey1

Re: Hot Toys MMS188 The Dark Knight Rises: Selina Kyle/Catwoman Figure Full Specs & P

It looks like the Hatheway head that's been making the rounds on Ebay the past few months.

Pot calling kettle black much? I'm not assuming anything and I didn't name any names - I didn't have you specifically in mind when I wrote that post. Go back and look at the Luke thread. Before *and* after the bad photos some people believe(d) it was not the final sculpt.

With as close to 100% certainty as one can have without holding it in hand. If it turns out not to be the "shipping" version, I have no doubts it is from Hot Toys nonetheless and is in fact the same sculpt we are currently looking at with a mask. Go to the original source link - you can even ignore the fact all the images are shot on the same background using the same neck cavity support.

Here's the Kumik Hathaway for anyone curious:

Don't be silly.

We've had a few exchanges, & you've taken what I've said & ran with an angle before.

You've also misunderstood others here by assuming (SW troops thread), then once countered.. back pedal. :lol

Here's the Kumik Hathaway:

Seriously?

That's the first I've seen of that Kumik head - the maskless head certainly isn't THAT one. :lol

Yeah.. who knows. The mask makes the face look a certain way - & with it gone, it alters it again.

A maskless one may've escaped the factory.. but I'm seeing differences.

Don't be silly.

:slap Frustrating. pot=kettle was in reference to you saying I was "assuming" something yet there's proof abound in the forum of exactly what I was talking about. The only assumption made was that you assumed I was talking about you - I wasn't - not directly. I have no idea who the specific posters are in the other thread, it's been a long time since I've read those messages. Hope that clears that one up.

Honestly, I hadn't been focusing on any one person's posts. When I replied with specificity, I quoted the person I was replying to. I'll go back and check, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't you.

The only angle I'm interested in here are photographic ones. The recent images look bad, which pretty much everyone agrees with. But I don't think a few bad images mean a bad shipping product, regardless of the stage at which they were taken.

You've also misunderstood others here by assuming (SW troops thread), then once countered.. back pedal. :lol

Not sure what that has to do with this topic. The Luke thing was however a good example and parallels this thread very well.

You should assume that's not the case for everyone else. ;)

Upon closer inspection, I'm still confident we're looking at the genuine article, but the images posted are of two different copies. That is to say, two heads. The photographer didn't take or put the mask on the head for the photos. I'm not sure what this means for release, maybe nothing.

While the facial sculpts may be identical, the paint application isn't. The biggest give-away is the hair in front of the ear (where a sideburn would be). The difference there as well as the subtle marks on the hair line can't be explained by angle, lighting or camera. It could be hand-painting variation, could be there will now be two heads, anything. I'm treating these as authentic but not definitive proof that the mask will be removable in the final shipping product.
