I don't see how it's so confusing, unless you find the idea of Elljay suddenly photographing knock-offs as plausible, but hey, I've seen people believe stranger things on these boards...

and therefore casted them from rubber now, leading to the lower accuracy.

When was the last time you made a custom figure from scratch? Better yet, when was the last time you created molds for mass-production? You can't necessarily produce something en-masse that was originally created by hand or as a one-off. The pre-production figures didn't come off an assembly line. And these new images haven't had hours of Photoshop magic applied to them like the pressers on Hot Toys site either.

Repeat after me... "All production Hot Toys figures vary from the pre-production samples used for official photos."

Lastly, why doesn't DX12 have the same level of variation that some other figures do? Maybe because in large part it's a re-release of DX02.

When was the last time you made a custom figure from scratch? Better yet, when was the last time you created molds for mass-production? I've created casts, and as long as you do it right with something that can be cast well, it shouldn't look any different. HT never had issues with making mass molds before, they just made the decision to design it different here and mess it up.

Again proven by other things HT have done that casted perfectly exactly like the proto because it's not an impossible process where it ****s up the original work's detail.

So the answer is never. Thanks for being honest.

It's not like this final product looks any less like Selina Kyle nor Anne Hathaway than anything Hot Toys has shown before. Seriously, Hot toys has never gotten a single sculpt "dead-on" - some better than others, but none even close to perfection. But I still love them. Except Iron Man stuff - that just bores me to tears.

Don't need to be an *** about it.

And no, I am not a customizer or someone who does this a lot, just did it for a few projects that needed some particular metal work done.

Anyways, if you can cast 100 things, you can cast 1000, 10000, million. The more the cheaper like most mass produced processes.

Well be careful what you wish for, some people where adamant about a removable mask, now you have it, if you don't like the maskless version just leave the friggin mask on and stop this endless posting about the same thing also please stop with the diagrams and arrows and millimetric measurements of the mask, it is the best catwoman by far that you will ever see commercially produced and that includes statues for I have not seeing a statue that comes close to this let alone a articulated figure.

It was not my intention to say it's a knock-off, the difference in the quality of the masks details just made me fear it could be one.

As I said, I wouldn't cancel it even if all of them come like the one on the recent pictures but I'd still be a little disappointed as we know Hot Toys could do better.
I'm not usually the very nitpicky guy when it comes to figures accuracy in proportions and things like that,
but in this case it's about the casting quality which is something completely different.

If it's really just because of them wanting to be nice giving us the option to remove the mask
and therefore casted them from rubber now, leading to the lower quality, I can respect that.
But I still think they can also cast rubber parts a lot better as we have seen on many other figure releases.

You are correct. Everything they've ever made has been varying degrees of accurate. This figure is no different. I can only imagine the reactions on here if they had REALLY screwed the pooch on her.

I scarcely believe there has ever been a HT figure that was widely regarded as "perfect." If there has been, you could probably count any of them on one hand.

Its not a big deal, but yeah she ind of looks like michelle rodriguez in that picture

I think its better that the proto because it doesn't look like its glued in

I never wanted a removeable mask...

Oh well, this is what we've got now.

Neither did I and I still think she looks pretty good with it on. Not too shabby.

But if everyone was able to agree on everything, the Internet would be a very boring place, indeed.

I wouldn't say it's a spot on likeness but I definitely see Hathaway. I think the eyes could you a little tweak and them it would be a home run.
