Come on. I don't even know what to say. It's already clear the sculpts on eBay were not knock-offs and now someone is making accusations of this figure, which was seeded to many bloggers in advance, is a knock-off?

This is absolutely the most asinine thing I've read in this thread to date.

The mask has been changed from the early proto figure because the proto mask was not movie-accurate at all. This has been discussed before. It's probably been changed a couple of times at least (from the photos we've seen). First proto pics -> early in-store displays -> production.

You're also looking at extreme close-ups of the mask so you're going to see small imperfections - the mask is a soft material and will not take detail like ABS plastic or polycarbonate.

No. See above. The mask on the proto was most definitely not intended to come off as per HT's specs.

DX12 is my favorite figure, and I don't see any problems that differ drastically from prototype.

Then you've never looked at it closely enough, even though "drastic" is absolutely the wrong word to use in all cases. Every single figure Hot Toys has ever made differs from early hand-made proto to production. Every single one.

All the other bloggers should have pictures up within a day, so you'll be able to see how the figure appears with different backgrounds, lighting and individual photo technique.

wonder how well the hair can be futzed ~ depends on how it's rooted whether we will be able to style it.

This is true, but to be honest, I just want to be able to keep it from getting the Barbie-hair frizz that can happen with rooted hair on figures.

We shall see, I reckon.

I know we all hate this comparison pics with lines and arrows, me too. I'm only talking about the mask and if the right one really shows Hot Toys version, one shouldn't forget that this pictures will most likely appear bigger on many of our screens than the head actually is and there are great looking pictures like this one so I wouldn't ever cancel it:

This one is just pointing out some major differences.
Maybe it's just because HT wanted to be nice giving us the option to remove the mask
and therefore casted them from rubber now, leading to the lower accuracy.

But it really made me think of bootleg.
But I think at least the shape and fitting could be optimized by placing it better then.

I like the high V shape of the proto mask better. They should have stuck with it.

I for one am quite pleased with what we've seem thus far. Consider that they could have really strayed even farther from the proto and ended up with a head sculpt that looks nothing like Hathaway. Mask on or off, I think she looks great. I'll be happy to have her join the rest of the Dark Knight crew.

Just one freak's opinion.

Looks like its just sitting lower on her nose. You might be able to adjust it to sit higher like the proto.

You are probably right on.

In fact, if the mask's material is flexible enough, those that want her mask permanently on, super glue would probably hold it in the perfect position.

This is pretty much my opinion at this point, until I actually have her in-hand. I must admit that after a few dodgy pics surfaced not long ago, I honestly thought that they may have botched her up a bit.

After seeing these new pics, I'm overall pretty pleased with the end result. Can't wait to see OMG's pics now.

This is pretty much my opinion at this point, until I actually have her in-hand. I must admit that after a few dodgy pics surfaced not long ago, I honestly thought that they may have botched her up a bit.

No. See above. The mask on the proto was most definitely not intended to come off as per HT's specs.

During production they would have to be individual pieces that are assembled and glued. You can't make clean molds with deep divots and gaps, or the mold won't come out right. They have to be individual pieces put together.

Then you've never looked at it closely enough, even though "drastic" is absolutely the wrong word to use in all cases. Every single figure Hot Toys has ever made differs from early hand-made proto to production. Every single one.

All the other bloggers should have pictures up within a day, so you'll be able to see how the figure appears with different backgrounds, lighting and individual photo technique.

I followed it clearly. They never made changes to production besides paint (like the eyes of the cowled sculpt) and the Wayne sculpt having more prominent lines/gauntness.

The suit and accessory molds are the same. Nothing came out glaringly different than the proto like this ugly mask.
