Re: MONDO - 1/6 Comic Style TMNT Figures Announced

The ones in the tradition clamshell packaging are the authentic ones. the ones in the tube packaging are mostly bootlegs. The 4- pack is also the authentic but some sellers do replace those with bootlegs so beware.

I have 5 sets: 1 loose, 1 clamshell, tube packaging from original release so they're legit, 1 regular box set, NYCC signed box set and SDCC B&W signed box set. I feel like all the bootlegs I've seen are loose, when did they start releasing those in tubes? What are the differences in packaging from the legit to the bootleg?

I wish I picked up a legit set of NECA Turtles when they were still available.

I'm not familiar with Mondo, but I don't like their pricing. :lol

Mondo started in the poster game and have been venturing out. Prices are always over the top, IMO. This is no exception. :lol

I don't think there is a difference in packaging for the tubes. the only sure fire way to tell is the shell color - bootlegs have a strong bluish tint. theres also little chance that if you bought the tubes when they were released by neca that they are bootlegs - they didn't start popping up until after demand started to outweigh supply and there was a bigger profit involved. if you bought them on ebay from china, they are bootlegs, if you bought them from a reputable online retailer or brick and mortar, theyre legit.

I've never collected the NECA ones, but what are these 'tubes' you guys speak of? Pics?

I remember seeing them in the comic shop many years back. And I was tempted by them, but thought they were overpriced at $20 a piece!

Some were packaged in plastic tubes.

Now, look at them...all 'grown up' and selling for much more money. :lol

I need to watch BTTF again and dream about what I would do if I had a Delorean with a flux capacitor. :lol

Re: MONDO - 1/6 Comic Style TMNT Figures Announced

Their dollies ain't on that level, but the price tags are. :lol

:lol

We get any more Widows with Brillo pad hair, thousand-yard stares and Vaders who look more Dork than Darth (and I didn't even get to poor Chewie) and they just may be!

I don't think Hot Toys figures are nearly as overrated as Mondo posters.

:lol

This would be even funnier if I were familiar with Mondo's products.

Re: MONDO - 1/6 Comic Style TMNT Figures Announced

They mostly do "artsy" updates of posters from movies old geeks are into like Gremlins or Goonies or whatever. And they make about 200 of them, sell them for $50 a piece, they sell out in about 2 minutes and everyone puts them on eBay for a $700 markup. Some are OK. Many are lazy and uninspired, IMO.

Ah, gotcha. I don't get the appeal. Perhaps I'm not artistic enough. :monkey1

Yeah I know with confidence all mine are legit. Bootlegs were even on the market when I bought all mine and u never did enough research on them to know they released bootleg packaging along with them.

I wish molds had been made of all the other NECA sculpts before they were scrapped. I would have jumped on bootlegs of those
