As usual excuse the pics they were taken with my iphone.

The Audio PCB is away now for construction so Im cracking into the surrounding base area now until thats back and ready to be installed. Heres the base with nothing on it:

and here it is with the first doorstep cut in and some more details added generally

The road surface Im waiting on some tests to dry as it needs sometype of protective coat, Im hopeful it will be ok (using a matt spray varnish and layering it up) as this stuff will make the dio less complicated to make. Im playing round atm with how the base should look, with the oil frozen in time and the alarm bells flashing and ringing Im undecided whether to place alot of human skulls in the debris (Ive been able to source 2 x 1/6th scale adult skeletons and also a childs 4 inch skeleton and a 1/6th teddy bear) So they are going into some of the rubble, positioned so the adult is protecting the child)

But here is a 1st test for layout (everyting bar the 1st doorstep is loose)

Hey Moon' I saw your dio's W.I.P on OSW, what is that for ? this is a huge work !!! I don't know if it's already set and done but it misses some bullet impact here and there.
I'm not familiar with the Stargate universe but it's the best custom of this dude I've seen yet. He looks better without the jacket, the clothes hangs more naturally.

Thx m8 the dio WIP is going to be for Terminator figures in my collection but I also wanted to make it Generic enough to take other figures and call it something like "Industrial Attack", and I take your point on the bullet impact will probably add some once the outside base is finished.

Here's a few pics with me trying out some external debris (everything's loose atm) so Im just playing, I think a few external white led's lights shining onto the building might be nice (you can see the lights switched on in the bottom pic that are built into the internal features), Im also contemplating putting in a destroyed T800 in the debris to the right side with one eye lit. But I wouldnt want to step on any copyrights in doing so. I may want to sell this in the future.

I bought it from 7toys7 if memory serves, it is the casing for a headsculpt sold by . . . . DiD I think (could be wrong) you can pick them up without the headsculpt.

Daily update

Added some edging to the base and added the returns, also have a good idea of heights now for the various elements on the base. Cut and placed some surfaces to see how they look and what heights they should be :

Its primarily built to display Terminator figures on but Im trying to keep it generic enough to take others, G.I Joe, Ironman, military etc. The base will slot around the building once completed then there will be modules placed on the base's sides so I hope to make those interchangeable and themed

Excuse the iPhone pics (but have to admit it captures DOF better than my macro lense on my Canon 450 then again it may just be uniformily blurry ) heres the road pretty much laid just have to layer up some protective coats. I have to thank USCMHicks for the heads up on this tarmac effect.

Another little update: added some lights to the base pointed down the front and sides of the building, The light on the right isnt completed yet, also Ive left an open circuit for a modular addition using 2 aluminium tubes which will protrude from rubble, the box in the shots is the power housing for the circuit which again will be covered in rubble, the switch to run the circuit will be incorporated into the rubble near the door. Ive opted away from the previous tiles for the pavment and just ordered some custom ones.
