Just requested they switch this to flexi. Too much coming in January.

Yeah, the delay on this piece has me worried about getting my other pre-orders too. Flexi is the way to go for sure (if you can). I had it all worked out, but my plan fell apart when the ML missed its announced Dec shipping date. I just have to have the Aragorn as Strider maquette. Think I'm just about covered though Hopefully I'll get enough funds up by the time GTG maquette becomes available too. At least that is the plan...but you can see how that's not working out too good so far .

I'm still up in the air as to whether to cancel my EX order and go with the regular..... I really wish SS would release in hand pics before they start charging...

I believe production pics are up on the item listing on the ssc site now.

Out of curiosity, now that you've seen it, what do you plan to do? Keeping it?

I was on the bubble for a while too, but ended up holding on to it.

I'll wait until the last minute so I can see some in hand pics from someone...

I can get the Reg. for $280 shipped from AE or $300 + shipping for the EX...is the EX worth apx. $40?? or I could wait it out and try and get the Reg. for even less.. there are 1000 regs being released / 500 EX's..

Just got another email from SS and it looks like it will cost me $317.07 shipped... Hmmmmm...

And I didn't catch this before but SS is getting a split shipment... I'm gonna have to call and see if they can move mine to the latter.. that would give me more time to see some pics and reviews..

Exclusives are always...If not for the choice of display or resale value...Exclusives are superior on both counts....They are the way to go always if you can..

Agree. Other than purchasing the right to claim you have an "Exclusive" I have to wonder how many people actually like the flaming sword and will actually display it? Unless you have an uncontrollable desire to make your $300 PF look like a cheap toy I can't see how anyone can find owning this exclusive desirable. Oh well. Not my money.

Yeah i got a regular, dont need the flame sword I said it when it was first revealed that sculpted fire just doesnt look good imo.

The flames on the original Balrog looked great and were a perfect capture of something intangible, and I think they are really well done on the Sideshow Legenedary bust for the Balrog too. The flaming knife that came with the Jason (FVJ) figure was really good too and shows that Sideshow can do flames, but the flames here are almost too consistent and not translucent enough (at least in the photos). The flaming sword was almost a non-issue in the movie too, so the exclusive wasn't a must have for me. Still looking forward to the regular arriving at home soon, and I can't wait for the shipping notice!

yea it can, but idk, if the sword had a light up function, i would prolly get it to use it once than put it back in the box. If SS would have released it in Dec like they were supposed to, i would have had this on xmas

I'd say the painted flames of the two SSW Balrogs and the translucent flames of the SS LSB and "Duel of Light and Fire" dio. all look excellent.....not only because flames are completely appropriate to the subject matter, they are necessary. However, to say that one companies flames are "better" than the others is pointless because it's always going to come down to the personal preference of the individual collector. Personally, I don't really have a particular favourite, though I must admit had SS gone with a light-up feature on their LSB and dio. I would have preferred those to painted flames simply because they would have offered an addition display option. And we did get a small taste of what a light-up Balrog with translucent flames looks like with the original light-up Balrog LSB prototype SS auctioned off during the SDCC '08 Diane Kamahele auction, as well as quadcent's excellent customization of a few years ago.

As for the ML's flaming sword....all I can say is hopefully it looks better in person.
