Odd that he'd say that - it's wrong. You can usually get the early posters well in advance of when the theater actually puts them out. Maybe he's assuming you'll only buy from him (or he is who he wants you to buy from) and that's about when he gets them to sell.

Yea, they always give that answer - and it's usually true. The sellers get them at the same time as the theaters, but it sometimes takes a while for theaters to get them up. And they usually have no idea what's coming, when - they know when it comes in.

You can already pick up the Captain America teaser, although fools are driving up the price right now on ebay. In about two - four weeks, you should be able to snag one in the $12 - $15 range, and then they'll start rising again as the actual supply dries up. Same thing happened with the Thor teaser, which I just picked up this week for around $14.

Well, I did ask when he was getting them, and since they get them from the studios that was probably the easiest answer for him.

I still find it strange how a guy in NY (two of the sellers on ebay with them up are from there) can have multiples of the same poster before the studio even releases them.

anyone know much about concert posters, such as silk screen prints? where the best place to get those are? some of the terminology to look for to make sure you're not getting something printed on a machine as opposed to be printed by a person?

I've gotten a few from the classified section of GigPosters.com. Most of which are direct from the artists themselves.

I bought these 2 posters today:

Got them at a local cinema. Printed on both sides. Usually I'd buy a replica at a store, but they didn't carry these, so I just thought I'd ask at the cinema if they wouldn't sell me one.
They asked my what I was looking for and they said: "no problem"

I even got the True Grit one for free, because they used it. It has 4 minuscule holes at the corners where some nails had been. It's barely noticeable at all!

They told me to come back whenever I'm looking for a new one! Now that's some great service IMO :rock :rock

Nice pieces !

Nice! I like both of those images too, especially the Tron.

Thanks guys!

To my knowledge, the Tron one is the official Dutch poster that was printed because the film only hit theatres here on the 26th of January.
It contains no further film info whatsoever, but Sam and Quorra are much closer by than on the official international poster, which they had too. That's why I chose this one! :)

Somebody's a Jeff Bridges fan. He came to my hometown in November, and was as nice and friendly as you would expect!

How are the IKEA Ribba frames for movie posters? I was there yesterday and was scared off by the size they had listed (although they were really nice frames and what I was looking for).

They don't have one that's large enough, do they? I seem to recall that they were under 40" tall...I'm particularly interested, because I need to pick up a couple more frames and paying $75 a poster is murder.

IKEA's frames seem large enough for a movie poster, but their dimensions seem off. For $25, I thought about taking a gamble with one. Here is what the IKEA site had for those Ribba frames:

RIBBA

Frame

$24.99

Width: 28 ¼ "
Height: 40 ¼ "
Picture, width: 27 ½ "
Width: 72 cm
Height: 102 cm
Picture, width: 70 cm

Yea, I think that width and height are exterior, not interior. Seems like the interior was more around 39 1/2" as I recall, but let us know!

Aaron Brothers sale for President's Weekend - 50% off custom framing and additional 10% off - if you have the right coupons.

I never pay full price for custom framing at AB, but I do like to use them for special prints and things when they have a sale like this.

Michaels usually has 40%-50% off running all the time on their frames. The bonus is the extra 25% they offer at times. I have a few of their 27x41 frames that work for the older era of posters.. they work great!
