Yes, those are the frames I usually use, but at $65 a pop in quantity, they are a pretty steep investment themselves. I may end up buying four more from them though at this point.

Does Michael's actually carry a frame at 27x41? I know they have a standard one that's 27x40, but I didn't think they had the larger size.

Just noticed this thread, very cool. I recently acquired a 6ft X 4ft Unknown double sided poster. Now time to make the lightbox for it.

I swung by Michael's last night to check out the frames. Meh.

The $30 Stylelines are about as cheap as you can get. They'd be fine for storing posters framed, but at that price it's an expensive option.

The $40 Trendsetters are slightly better, but still pretty cheap stuff. Of course, Michael's is having their 40% off all frames right now, so the prices are much better. I bought two of the Trendsetters for $24 each, one to hang the Legends of the Guardians poster in my son's room, and one to hang the Beiber movie poster in my daughter's. Gotta start them young.

But for me, I'm going to stick with the $65 versions at Hollywood Poster Frames. I need 27x41 anyway, and the Michael's frames only go up to 27x40.

Not as cheap as you can get is Walmart's 27x40 frame. It makes posters cry.

Saw those Trendsetter frames when I stopped by Michaels on Sunday afternoon. Wasn't impressed by them, but much better than those Walmart frames that they sell with the collage for $20. Those Stylelines frames looked pretty bad.

How are those Hollywood Poster Frames? Saw the site and they did look pretty good.

They are all metal frames, and to swap posters you loosen two screws to lift off the top (or bottom) section of the frame. Backer and plexi slide out and back in. There are four tensioners that hold the backer and plexi tight.

The big upside is the quality of the metal frame and the thick plexi. Bought in bulk, I think they run around $65, and I'm going to be ordering four more tonight.

They last too - I've had my first four about 10 years now, and they still look great.

Sounds good. I may be in for one frame just to give it a shot. I'll probably look into the Premium before the Economy frame. Not fun having an assortment of movie posters in tubes with nothing to really hang them up.

About 7 years ago (before I really started collecting movie posters), I picked up a wooden 27x40 frame from Suncoast along with the SW AOTC Imax DS poster. The frame has lasted pretty well...although the plastic cover is pretty scratched up from storage. Always looking for something new to try for a display. I'll likely get a Styleline frame from Michaels and simply switch out the plastic covers for that wooden frame.

Haven't picked up much for new movies the last couple weeks. Filled in some older holes - bought a very cool Beauty and the Beast, a Buried, The Frighteners, Terminator Salvation and Princess and the Frog. A couple single sided 80's too - Wolfen, Garp, Long Riders. Not too many new images have tripped my trigger recently, but I do want one of the S_____ 4 with the mask turning into the knife blade.

I'm trying to decide right now on a bigger purchase - either Tombstone or Rocketeer. I love the image for the Rocketeer more, but I love the movie Tombstone more. Decisions, decisons.

Bought this one some days ago. Love it!!!

Like all collectors say, get both! :lol

I've recently acquired a 27x40 DS poster of Iron Man (2008). Going to try a popular framing store in the next town over to mull over some framing options at some point today. Can't wait to frame it up and display my 1:1 Bust in front of it.

This place is excellent too - very reasonable prices and the owner is a big collector as well and really knows her stuff. A lot of the studios use them for framing one sheets in their offices.

Thanks for this link, I might check them out for a couple I want to get framed. It seems they also do custom matte, have you had this done before?

Whenever you buy from them they are willing to custom cut everything from frame to matte to the exact size. The woman that runs the place is a collector herself and does a terrific job.

Sweet, so do I ship her the poster and they put it together? It kind of sounds like that on their site but have not found a definitive answer.

I've been using her for poster frames for over 10 years, they are the best in the business for the price point. I'm pretty sure you provide them with the dimensions and they ship you the custom frame unless you are having the poster restored. Their frames are very easy to open at the top and slide the poster in, though I recommend once you put a poster in, it stays in.
