Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Even if these headsculpts are $200 I would say they're expensive but definitely NOT overpriced. Like I said, there's a difference.

I won't say who told me what, but I was told by three different people (two of which either have or are in the process of getting a head sculpt from imaresqd1). And ALL three had about the same figure in our discussions. So iunno.. if it was all a lie that sucks that people would create drama for no reason. :lol

as for dense, i'm willing to bet money i've done more great things with this mind of mine than you have with yours. i'll leave it at that.

:lol:lol:lol

Riiiight. So insecure you felt the need to Brag!? Really? STFU and go play with your Bruce Lee toys, herb.

cr0w, $100 or $150 what's the difference... I still don't understand that reason to the secrecy though. His work speaks for itself, he shouldn't care what people think. Not many painters/artists/film stars/musicians care what the critics say. So why should he according to your reasons. If people want it people will pay for quality, and quality always sells. It's not as if it's some mediocre Chris Howes head here. It's even putting Hot Toys sculpts to shame. If everyone never revealed their prices or was afraid of criticism nothing would ever get released or sold, period.

Which comes back to the other thing I said earlier, where does licensing come into something like this for making money? It's not as if it's some mediocre piece the lesser artists are providing. I'm sure if Hot Toys discovers this fella they'll whip him up in a heartbeat.

I honestly would love to buy one of his head sculpts. His work is just beautiful. Even that laughing sculpt. It puts everything Hot Toys has released to quite a degree of shame. He's at least took 2 steps higher than Hot Toys currently with hair roots and open mouths plus pure accuracy and attention to detail.

I don't know the reason for the secrecy, like I said. I have no idea. That's something that, if it's ever answered, will have to be answered by him.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

I'd just like to reiterate what I said earlier because I think it's the meat of the problem. Adam did a piece for someone. That someone (whoever it is, I have no idea) requested that if any others are made, they NOT be sold for less. Adam is honoring his word, the person that made the request is the one to point the finger at. I for one would love to know who they are because they would definitely not be allowed in on any future custom I commission. I own a piece by Adam and it is an original sculpt that came with a body and accessories and it didn't cost as much as just this one head for what it's worth. Find the buyer that made the request and direct the pitchforks his way. Adam isn't at fault.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

i think your missing the point, the majority of us are not bothered! We accept the price and embrace the custom. Its a minority making a mountain out of a molehill and causing negativity within the last 5 or so pages

I would say that it's the other way around. With those accepting in the vast minority.

this is fair enough. but just playing devil's advocate (i don't know who commissioned the piece, or what the piece is), i can understand the feeling of paying for a full commission and not wanting others to get it vastly cheaper. if they paid all that money and got the sculpt as their own then it wouldn't make sense that they sell casts to recuperate some of the costs (not sure if this is what you did with Andy's sculpted Bale head?).

but if the artist charged one guy a huge price to commission withouth giving them the right to cast and sell, and then charges everyone else less for casts, that seems unfair. in that case, the artist should have assumed the cost of the actual sculpt, and offered everyone, including the first guy, casts at a low price.

Well here's my issue. I've on several occassions seen people hammering Adam everytime he shows his work to make it available followed by the customary exclamations of "Name your price" and "I'll make it worth your while!" So who's to say Adam didn't just bite at someones ridiculous offer and run with it? I'm just saying that knowing what I paid for an entire figure he did. Body, Accessories, Custom head, and what Adam even charged for his Terminator castings that this price doesn't seem like something Adam himself set. I could be wrong, but I'm just thinking aloud.

As far as my Bale head. I didn't even break even with that after selling 100 castings. I made it available because I was getting ***** with requests about it and thought I'd share the love. But just to stir the pot a little more, what I paid wasn't too much more and it got me the original sculpt by Andy. It got me a casting. It got me the molds. And it got me the rights to the piece. Just sayin'.

Yes, this has gotten lost by the wayside.

well, there are about 60 or 70 people that love you for that bale head. i do too, and i can't thank you enough. i didn't request it, but i was damn grateful you made it available.

based on what you've said above, i'm not sure what the actual facts are. it could be more complicated than we think. i guess we'd need to know more about the ins and outs of the deal between adam and the commissioner, and how the price was agreed upon before we can make any definite judgement.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

If someone is going around saying these are selling for $700, they're flat out misinformed. If someone says they paid that much for the sculpt, either they're lying and trying to start trouble or they're an ***** with too much money.

The price is nowhere near that, it's closer to $100 than it is to $700. I don't know where the hell that figure even came from.

Mathematically, yes, it's closer to $100 than it is to $700. Hell, it's closer to $1 than it is to $700.

I don't know where the $700 figure came from, unless that's what it ended up going for on Ebay. That's just astronomical.

So would you agree if they WERE selling for that much that they would be grossly overpriced? Because that's were I was coming from.

You see, this is what I don't understand and where I see a contradiction: According to the above in bold, you are calling someone who might buy it for $700 and "***** with too much money" and the $700 price as "astronomical". So only YOU have a right to use those adjectives because you think $700 is too much for that headsculpt, yet the rest of us can't say anything about the actual price? What happened to "art has no price"? If we go by the "art has no price" way of thought, then $700 (even though that's not what Adam is charging) wouldn't be an issue.

ps. I still can't find the post where someone calls Adam "selfish".

.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

noone never called Adam selfish. I for one find him a FANTASTIC customizer, but I probably can't think of ANY 1/6th head I'd pay 700$ for, even IF it's perfect, you see.. There's just so much more you can do with 700$..

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

luckily, this 700$ appears to be random bullocks, so congrats everyone that has bought this one from adam!
