Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Looks like you've made a cast from Heath's head and made it 1/6th.

This IS Heath Ledger. Better than HT's sculpts.

Keep up the good work!

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

I thought I heard somewhere that Adam was retiring from Joker's,but if demand was high enough...I know I'd love to have one

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Hey, the way I look at it...I can pass on a couple figures I'm not too excited about in order to pay for something that's ????ing amazing.

Oh, don't get me wrong, it is a ***ing amazing head sculpt, the best Heath Ledger likeness in my opinion and if you can afford it, then more power to you.;)

I can't see Hot Toys making something as lifelike as that in the near future anytime soon. They seem to be obsessed in making their Medusa play-doh hair.

yeah, but you'll get a full figure, with a lot of accesoirces for just 1/6 of the price of this amazing headsculpt. i wished it wouldn't be that high, i really would love as many here to own such a beautiful sculpt, but the price is just way too much for me.

I hear ya brother... and I will get flamed for this, but here it goes anyway:
In my case, it's not a matter of being able to afford it or not, it's a matter of principle. I am a professional artist in a different area of work. I just think that as an artist you should get rewarded for your time and talent of course, but also make your art available to everyone (or the most people possible without compromising how you make a living). In it, not only comes monetary reward but the admiration and respect for your work, which is an even greater reward, IMHO. In the long run, the artist makes a name for himself by reaching more people who will enjoy his work. Just look at how well known and respected is Les Walker in the 1/6 world (and Hurricane and elvis1976, etc.). But that's just my opinion and nobody is forcing anyone into buying anything or not.

All right, flame on.

Amazing piece, and with all the Joker craze, a lot of people are cashing in on hardcore fans.

I've noticed a lot of DK fans didn't know about HT or the 1/6th community before these figures, so I guess they are willing to spend lots of money on all things Joker/DK, specially since they might not be aware of average prices for custom items.

Some artists are more worried about sharing their work and make a buck, while others know there's people that will pay crazy prices for unique pieces....

How much is the customized piece?...

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Adam's commissions vary. I know the price of this one, but I don't think it fair to post it.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

At the end of the day i think Adam is well within his rights to charge what he feels. I think this is a premium peice of art and for that you have to pay for it.

Well said.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

That's pretty much it. At the end of the day, it's worth what someone is willing to pay. There really isn't a set price, for the work, the artist could charge whatever he likes (like most things in life :p) It still is a 'commission' per se', it's not like you could just buy one off the shelf.

....
Thanks mate. Yeah that was basically me :p. I had a basic understanding of the 1/6ths and had seen them, but i didn't think they looked that good in hand, as they do. I actually thought this would have cost alot more, and to be honest, probably would have payed it lol. But the way i look at it is, work hard, play hard. And by hard, i don't mean, going out and wasting it on drugs or pissing it against the wall on booze or some crap, (unless that's your thing:p) but rather, spending it on what makes you happy. A true passion. And that way, you can't ever really go wrong ......... i think .......... maybe .......... probably not .......... perhaps not ......... most definately could :p

It's one of the perks of being able to avoid the trap of getting married and having kids too early like most of my friends/family. I get to have lots of disposable income to spend on stupid stuff. :D

That I can understand. It's a one off, not mass produced. Which reminds me of the glass units I was wanting built specially for my display. They were wanting £2,000 each for both glass towers. 6ft tall because they were one off corner pieces. Not mass produced. Sadly I couldn't go that route as it was well out of my budget.
