Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

At the end of the day i think Adam is well within his rights to charge what he feels. I think this is a premium peice of art and for that you have to pay for it.

:lecture Well put. As long as these pieces don't fall into the hands of nasty casters, you are owning something superb and truly limited.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Well IMO Adam is justified in the prices he asks because:
1. There is no match for the accuracy of his Joker sculpts
2. As a collector, I value scarcity and therefore appreciate the fact that he's not willing to mass produce / sell casts.
3. As a collector, I understand that if something is both rare and of extreme quality, then its price is high.

I imagine owning an Adam joker head is something that is not only good enough to be the absolute centerpiece of a collection but is also something that is so rare that you will always get the feeling that 'wow this is among the best 1/6 versions of Heath as the joker there is in the entire world'.

Therefore I think the price just reflects all of the above.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

I remember he put some of his Joker sculpts on eBay before, no reserve. I even saw this exact sculpt on there with the real hair and everything. So he, at that time at least, wanted people to sort of come up with their own selling price...what they were willing to spend.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

This thing's a work of art, and I have no problem paying for something of such high quality. I doubt we'll ever get a better mass-produced sculpt. I used to take commissions on repaints myself, so I understand the charge for it. The time and effort something like this requires isn't cheap.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

I was told that the price was because that's what the original buyer bought his for (not saying Blakus, because there are other casts of this head) and they asked that none be sold for any less than that. So find the original buyer and cuss them out for being the stingy deuche. Adam is just honoring his word.

It sucks that you have collectors out there that are like that. Especially since they'll be the first ones begging for someone else to make a casting of a one off sculpt they fronted the bill for.

It's one thing recasting, it's another to make the hair look wonderful as the original since it's so fine and moveable?... creating that lovely cinematic realism.

How did he attach it making it look seamless. I'll bet this was many days of work.

Just my opinion on the subject, and no disrespect to anyone who's bought one of these head sculpts or to imaresqd1 who's just doing his thang. But seriously.. if the price(s) that I've been hearing are true.. they're way overpriced for what you get. But keep in mind, value is relative. So this is strictly for me and from my POV.

First thing, right off the bat, these are modified sculpts. Not 100% original. Not sure if it's always the v1 Joker head from HT, but the early heads from imaresqd1 were just modified v1 Joker head sculpts. And honestly, I couldn't even see the price being valid if dude was building these from scratch and it was 100% his work.

Not to mention when you compare overall value, for the price you'd pay for one head sculpt from imaresqd1 you could get an entire House M.D. figure PLUS the motorcycle (deluxe set) that Serang was offering. Which btw featured multiple pieces made from scratch like the shoes.

There's no way you could say that the amount of money, time and effort that imaresqd1 puts into each headsculpt is worth the amount of money he then charges for them.

So imho yes they're grossly overpriced, and not worth the cost. But like I said, value and price is relative. I'm sure some people would think it was insane to spend $150 - $200+ on a "toy" (1/6 scale figure). :lol:lol:lol

By far it's the best head sculpt(s) you can find in 1/6 scale of The Joker/Heath Ledger from TDK. It's just a shame more people won't get them/enjoy them because of the price.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

You also have to understand that people have an attachment to this Joker unlike almost any other character out there. That factors into the willingness to pay the prices.

I enjoy House, but I'd much, much rather have a definitive Joker figure than a House figure. That's just me.

True. There's a ton of different reasons why we buy what we buy. I understand that. But that doesn't change the fact that these modified head sculpts are overpriced.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

It's funny to me that I consider $20 for a haircut to be insane and almost refuse to pay it, but I don't bat an eye at paying for something like this.

That is the best Heath Ledger Joker sculpt out there. Far better than the DX Joker. Great job.

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

Seeing incredible work like this gives me the incentive to start working on my Joker once again.....What inspiration and what an incredible headsculpt!!!!!

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

FYI, the sculpt blackus owns is an original sculpt by me.
All my sculpts are very precious to me, and It was never my intention to make it available here, considering the amount of time and effort that I put into it.
I don't wanna argue with anything, but this is pretty simple. If the price is not fair to you, that's fine. You can say it's ridiculous or overpriced, but I never tried to force this on anyone.

Well said Adam. I fully understand that you never intended them for sale and know how much persuasion it took to get one from you...let alone another. :)

You had every right to sell none and keep them special to you, but to let a couple of people get some of these from you is an honour. They will easily be the highlight of any collection.

Yeah i could not agree more! Adam is a really genuine guy and you can see plainly the guy is amazingly talented! I have also commissioned Adam to do me a Joker sculpt which i have no problem with the price of. IMO the price was actually really good the amount of time and effort Adam will put into this. It again is IMO that Adams sculpts are far superior of any of the HT's sculpts yet!

Re: My Custom 1/6th Heath Joker nearing completion, pic heavy

The sculpt may be expensive but just like the Joker himself said ...

" If your good at something never do it for free ".

:lol
That said I could probably never afford one anyway. :lol
