Ok, just received my P.F. Obi-Wan statue and have to say, fantastic likeness of Alec Guiness. The paint ops on the face and the hands are top notch, as are the inner garments, leather belt (that has a strong leather smell too), and the shirt and pant garments. The lightsaber effect is much brighter and more consistent looking throughout the whole blade than the Vader one, but I do not feel that one detracts from the other at all. The training droid looks real sharp - very sturdy looking on its own stand. Are these really all hand painted as opposed to machine?

My only *very small* gripe: the cloth of the robe is sharp, however, you can tell that the machine used to cut this was a bit sloppy and left jagged cutting patterns on the edges.

I love the scale between these two 1:4 scale statues - Vader does tower over Old Ben as he should - and together, these two sure are one helluva set! :D

Dumb question: is there any reason that the Obi-Wan PF statue has a silver 'exclusive' sticker? All others I have seen are gold. I am assuming it means nothing, but was just curious.

Statue number: 629

Congrats AM!! I am very pleased to see post after post about this piece with virtually no complaints.

My sticker was gold. If you got the elusive silver chase sticker, then count yourself lucky. Only one out of every hundred PFs get the Galactic Hunt silver sticker, and it will be worth tons of money in the future!

Actually, I have no idea... Mine have always been gold.

Is hasbro making these now? :p

What a jip! I was getting excited for the guy for a minute there...

Mine is here. Pics will be forth coming. My # is 557 if the # on the box is correct.

Don't forget to sign up for the Wait List, all those who missed out... What with all the ship notices and charges (an inevitable declines) going on, there may be a few available for Wait List members.... :duff

He looks AWESOME by the way - this is the first time I've seen the production piece in all his glory - thanks Tom! :)

Ok, you actually had me going there for a minute! I truly wonder if they just have both or silver stickers or if there is an actual significance...not that I really care (it isn't about the sticker).

My Obi-Wan had many fold lines in his robe, but with a little ruffling of the cloth, it will smooth out nicely.

Just finished setting mine up and I have to say he is really amazing!! The likeness is perfect I see nothing at all wrong with this piece what so ever. The costume is so freaking cool it literally looks like he has been living in a cave forever all wrinkles and beat up. The paint detail on Obi-Wan is also amazing. It appears to be very life like and none of the issues that plaqued Han or Luke appear to be there at all. I cannot put into words how happy I truly am with this piece and to have him and Vader both makes this SW fan very very happy.

That's actually good, IMO. Obi's robe is heavily tattered in ANH. Remember, the outfit is about 20 years old at that point in time. I can't imagine that Obi had many alternative outfits out there in that hut. I'm suprised his robe didn't blow away like dandelion spores after that much wear. ;)

Anyway, I spoke of the placement of the cord and the orientation of Obi's base before, but those are minor nitpicks.

The only major thing that bothers me about the exclusive is how low the Jedi Remote is on the stand. In the film, it hovers at Luke's head level, yet it only comes up to Ben's waist on this piece. I may sell my Obi and Vader exclusives and pick up the regular versions of each.

Yup, that's why I like the wrinkled look because it matches what should be based on how he has been living.

Thanks for the pics Josh- Yours looks great! I'm glad you are happy with him. I really do think that this piece is amazing, and it's great to have a piece from this line that is almost universally praised (apart from a few minor quibbles). It was a lot of fun to sit there yesterday and stare at Obi-Wan, Vader, Han and Luke in all of their PF glory. Now we need to add Leia to the mix, and Grievous can start the Prequel side of the room. :D

My pleasure to share the pics. He looks really really good. I admit I love these PF pieces! Pass that big plate of crow down. :p I agree it is nice to see a piece that is virtually praised by everyone with the usual little things we would like to see different. I just have Vader and Obi but I've been stairing at them for like two hours now. I look forward to seeing pics of Leia but am more than excited to get Grievous.

SS please please please bring a Darth Maul PF to the plate soon. That piece will make me the happiest SW fan ever.

Received mine yesterday as well - scored #66 :D

Anyway, STUNNING piece! I still like my PF Han the most (scored REALLY low number with the best paint job I've seen yet), but this is another stellar addition to the family.

Only two complaints: I think they may have gone a little too heavy with the eye bags, and the positioning of the left foot (the lead foot) is angled off to the right a little too much (makes the body look a little contorted).

That said, pieces like this are the reason I collect PF figures.

:)

P.S. Greg Mowry is miniature costume GOD!

Folks: be real careful with Obi-Wan's lightsaber handle - when I first plugged in the lightsaber blade (with partial handle) to the main part of the handle he is holding, the blade fit and all that, but it angled a bit - I just left it alone all day and it worked fine... until just now.

I decided to unplug the blade (and partial handle) portion to reposition it with the part of the handle that Obi Wan holds, and low and behold, the connector portion that connects to the main handle separated from the handle (again, the handle portion that has the actual blade)...!

I was looking at the exposed filament or whatnot - luckily, I was able to reattach the connector portion to the handle (that holds the actual blade portion) back and it still works....I did not have this issue with Vader.

Be very, very careful handling that blade....! I am very anal-retentive about this stuff, and it just happened to me. Thank goodness it still works fine.
