I've just turned it on now and its working.:confused:
I tried absolutley everything before and turned it off a few times too so I'm not sure why its working now. :monkey1

Hm..

If everything on your system was turned on and working, except the display, then it was probably due to a faulty HDMI (or component cable). Either the cable was faulty, or there was a lag between the "hand-shaking" of the cable and your TV set. I doubt that it has anything to do with your PS3's workmanship. If the problem persists in the future, just get a new cable :chew.

This happened to me a few times last year with my 80 GB PS3, and my Gateway laptop. Since then, I decided to swap my old HDMI cables for newer ones, and I never had any problems again :chew.

Yeah something similar had happened to me. The was no signal on my TV. I called the PS3 hotline and the guy said switch off the set, unplug and plug in the HDMI cable, switch on the PS3 set.

Worked like a charm.

Like somone said, sometimes it's an error with the synchronisation of the Console with the HDMI cable or the HDMI cable might be damaged.

Aaaaargh! My PS3 60GB launch console just died!!!!! Red flashing light when I try and switch it on!!!!! Anyone know what's wrong!?! Quick Google doesn't help - maybe the HDD? Tried taking out and in again, still the same - tries to come on, greeen light goes yellow then flashing red...

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobis... your my only hope...

If you have to, contact Sony. When I did their customer support was awesome. They sent me a box with inserts for the console (even had a piece of tape to seal the box), took 2 days to get there. Nintendo's is pretty good, as well.

Now Microsoft, when I got the RROD, and the system was still under factory warranty, I had to print my shipping label, take the console to UPS and pay for a box and packing materials, and then they took forever with it. Had it for about a month!!

So he has to worry about his system dying every other month???

Stupid statement. ALL systems die and have issues. I still have my launch 360 and have never had one issue. Also have a trouble free elite for about 2 to 3 years now with no issues.

It's just the puck of the draw with ANY system you buy including a ps3.

Lot a wood touching in here. :monkey1

Really, and the saying is "knock on wood".

Why? Because people used to believe good spirits lived in trees, so they'd knock on them to wake em up. So I really don't see how "touching" some wood is going to prevent their systems from dieing on em.

Touching wood might at least make me feel a little better about now... :)

Well out of warranty, so if no ones got any suggestions I guess it's repai or replace. Bollocks, really ain't got the cash for this right now :(

Easy easy fix. My 60g also crap out on me a couple of months ago and a friend of mine told me that the launch was prone to power supply failure.
Here's what I posted on another thread on how to fix power supply:

step 1: how to open a ps3

step 2 How to replace a Power supply

step 3: buy power supply at ebay
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

so for $18 plus $10 shipping, you can easily fix it.
At least look at the vids and see how easy it is.
I'm not an electronics person myself and my friend was gonna fix it
but after seeing the vids, I'm like screw that, I'll do it myself and it worked. I was sooo pumped I replaced my HD also last weekend
to 320g

I've heard more people use the term " touch wood " personally. Maybe it's a UK thing ?.
I don't look into it enough to know anything about spirits in trees. :dunno

True that, sometimes I forget there are members from other countries, with other customs. As far as I've ever known, it's knock on wood in the States.

Touch wood just sounds funny to me :lol

Piss off.

What if the power supply isn't the problem? Might be the Blu Ray drive failing.
