Best 2 bassists IMO (yes I'm a musician too) are Flea From the Chilli Peppers and the late Cliff Burton from Metallica...

Both are (were) truly genius in what they do (did)

Good but don't forget Les Claypool. :lecture

And the list goes on, I DO play bass - and Flea is a god! :bow

Jaco Pastorius
Victor Wooten
Edgar Meyer

The best of the best in bass.

Bummer is most music is utter crap... no soul, no point just made to turn a profit. I really hate Dave Mathews band though, I'd toss them into an abyss.

And while I'm at it:
Kenny G
Boy Bands
Girl Bands
Brittany Spears and others of her "caliber"
99% of Country and Rap/Hip Hop
Silverchair and band of of that "caliber"
Anything "Adult Contemporary"

That would probably be a good start :lol

any band that doesnt play instruments or write most of there own stuff imo... like all rap and most newere country "artists". blows imo

Or those who try to act punk but listen to gay screamo and gives the middle finger on every pic they take, thinking they look tough and punk...:lol:lol:lol

Also,Pretty much anything that is called ''punk'' by todays standard is just poseur shat....

Indie rock is where the true spirit of punk still lives.

I agree.. To be a true punk you had to live in and experience the era.. Otherwise your just a sad joke IMO. Just as bad as the white kid that thinks he's gangster IMO...

Metallica died w/ Cliff Burton IMO.. ~LEGEND~

Here, I'll say something controversial.....

RAP SUCKS!!!! :D

:wave

True dat...99% of it is mostly crap IMO.

I'm glad rap is dead..

What does Bodie hate more than rap?.. Silly white boys who try and act ghetto because they listen rap music.. I have one of these who lives a couple doors down here in the "ghetto" of South Redondo Beach who lives in his mom's beautiful large house behind a lovely rose garden....

I'd like to go over there and show him how tough he isn't..

Hate posers...

any band that doesnt play instruments or write most of there own stuff imo... like all rap and most newere country "artists". blows imo

It's not rap, it's HIP-HOP! And it's not dead :lecture The weak bull^^^^ "rappers" are getting all the attention while the people who make REAL HIP-HOP are going unnoticed. I bet most of you who say it's crap base it on what you hear on the radio and on TV. But if you checked out some of the others (see below) i'm sure some of you would say "Well, it's not all bad. There's some good stuff out there." or something. I'm a big Hip-Hop fan (since i was 6 years old). I'm not a big rock fan like many of you but there are some ^^^^ out there that makes me want to stab my ears with a screwdriver (same with so-called "hip-hop"). I guess Hip-Hop and rock are alot a like in that we need to look harder for the great music while all the lame commercial crap gives people the wrong impression of the music we love. A shame, really, but hopefully it will all change one day.

These a some of the groups and rappers i listen to and would recommend to everybody to check out....
A Tribe Called Quest, Atmosphere, Big Punisher, Black Milk, Common, De La Soul, Dead Prez, EMC, The Game, Gang Starr, Ice Cube, J Dilla, Jay-Z, Jedi Mind Tricks, KRS-One, Little Brother, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, MF Doom (Danger Doom, Madvillain, Viktor Vaughn), Masta Ace, Murs, M.O.P., The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Outkast, Public Enemy, Pharoahe Monch, Redman, The Roots, Scarface, Sean Price, Talib Kweli, Wordsmith, Wordsworth & WU-TANG CLAN (Group, individual and affiliated) to name a few :D

Real punk rock doesn't exist anymore. And no I am not just speaking about the music. Anyone can play a million bar chords a minute- it was the attitude of the pioneers that established the genre. Anything after is a soft floppy copy.

To be a true musician I think you have to innovate. This is why I wouldn't consider anything you hear on the radio as good. ^^^^ like American Idol and Britney Spears is what people like because of how familiar it sounds...plus they don't have to think at all to understand the one word they use throughout the whole song...*ahem WOMANIZER*

I haven't listened to the radio in years because most of the songs and artists represented are devoid of true feeling and passion.

Usually, if you make true art and true music you will be poor.

This is music to me. I want this song to be played as I die.

I'll agree with you, I think in hip-hop and even country music there are some good artists... but these are 2 genres in which the vast majority is horrendous and makes it hard to see anyone who actually has talent.

Although, personally I still don't get down with any of the above listed bands.

Or those ^^^^^^^s that think they're cool by posting pics of teenage prostitutes.

The problem with those genres is the lack of innovation in my opinion. Country has been stuck in pause for decades now. You can turn on the radio after not listening for 5 years and still be able to sing along. The topics are all trite and burnt to a crisp by now.

Rap is full of a bunch of posers talking about drugs and hos. They have to represent an image. It's the falseness that is killing this genre.

Again, in my opinion. :)

The most overrated, untalented band of all time is U2. Their music sucks and their lead singer thinks he is God. Sad to see some other bands going down this road too...I'm looking at you, Coldplay. Runner-up to worst is Jack Johnson.

And to the person who said Eddie VH is the greatest guitar player of all time, I respectfully disagree. That honor goed to Hendrix.

Quoted for truth!

IMO punk turned into something different after the Clash. I love the Clash, but to call them punk is wrong, they were the beginning of pop-punk. Once the Clash came, punk stopped being about revolution and anger, and became about catchy beats and angst. Pop-punk is not a bad term.

Today, punk has become a lifestyle. When I used to skate everyday in highschool, all my friends and I listened to what we saw as punk, like the Living End, Social Distortion, Rancid, Pennywise, NOFX, and Op Ivy. Since then, I have learned the evolution the term punk has taken.
