My take on Kobe is that the man obviously has skill, maybe the best we've ever seen - seriously.
I would rank him the 3rd best player I've seen in my lifetime, after Jordan and Tim Duncan. I never liked Kobe, but he earned the right to at least be in the all-time great conversation after the last couple of titles with Gasol et al.

Well lets face it, the East is doggy doo. Knicks got Billups also so this gives them a good PG. Its not gonna be the 2004 Billups but he's still serviceable. I think this puts them ahead of the Bulls and maybe even the Magic for 3rd in the East.

Um no. We can score and play D. Something the knicks will really now only be able to do part of.

They have Melo and Amare who only know how to score and the rest of the team is eh. Plus no cap room to do anything else after this.

Edit: I knew as soon as I saw this went down I'd read how all a sudden the Knicks are back and how the Bulls all of a sudden just fell down the rankings. We have the third best record in the east, 5th in the NBA, have only had our entire team together for 8 games, and now get our best big guy back (avg 14pts, 11 reb, and 2 blks). I'm sorry I know we've lost to the knicks twice before they got Melo but I'm more worried about Boston and LA.

Durant jacked up just about as many shots you dope...

Congrats to NY, you got yourselves a playa.. Yet your D will be god awful! LOL!!!

Not really you dope. The difference is Durant didn't force shots like Kobe. Maybe if would stop the name calling and be less biased you'd see the difference. Eh, whatever, I'm either dealing with a child or a very immature adult so no sweat off my back.

BOOYAH!!!

Dont think they gave up to much, but like others said, the defence is always going to be ass with D'Antoni as coach

I've been a KNICK fan my WHOLE LIFE. I've suffered the past 10+ years and picking up AMAR'E and MELO in the same year is truly something to be excited about...Mr. Big Shot still has at least 2 good years left.

The stars are aligning in NYC and CP3 is next :)

Not impressed with Denver's acquisitions at all. My basis for the trade is what Denver gave up for Kenyon Martin = 3 1st round picks.

Melo should have gotten at least 4 by comparison.

Of course, it could be said that they grossly overpaid for Martin.

The NJ proposal was much, much better, but I'm sure Melo said "no" to that deal.

A 2014 1st round pick just seems ridiculously a long time to look forward to. Gallinari looks like he might be traded. Hope the Nuggets get a lottery pick for him.

The one thing to look forward to, if the Nuggets miss this year's playoffs, look for the NBA to give them a top 3 pick in the fraudulent lottery. Cavs of course will get the #1, not for their losing record, but because the NBA feels like they need to help them out now.

'Melo is a one-dimensional player. I'm sure he'll add more wins for New York, but don't expect them to reach the East Finals. They have to figure out a way to get past Boston & Miami (Yes, Orlando is not even part of the conversation). :wave

All they have to do is stay away from Isiah Thomas, and they'll do much better.. He has too much influence on this team until now, that he's still working behind-the-scenes even if he officially doesn't have a position in the front office. :slap

Dude the KNICKS have been terrible for the past 10 years. We now have 2 players that started the ALL STAR game...the only other team that can say that is MIAMI. I do not expect the to go to the finals this year...but it's definately within reach for the 2013 season...when we sign CP3 or Deron Williams. Anthony is a 26 year old phenom that is without question one of the leauges brightest stars and easily one of the top 5 offensive players in the NBA. While i'm not expecting a championship...this deal enables us to compete with the other dominant teams in the leauge. We are legitametley one or two trade(s)/sigining(s) from being one of the premier teams in the leauge.

Today is a great day for this NY sports fan.

I don't see him taking the kind of pay cut that would necessitate. CP3 is, in my humble estimation, the single best point guard in the league. He's gonna get paid wherever he goes.

As for the All-Star game, be serious for a second. Yao Ming didn't even play this year but what, a couple of games (if anything) and was a starter. :lol It's just a popularity contest.

You can forget about Deron or CP3 unless they are going to be willing to come in at the Mid-level salary. In 2011-12 both Carmelo and Amare will be slated to make over $20 million... that's 5 million MORE than Lebron or Wade or Bosh make. That in essence eliminates the opportunity to get another max level player. Say what you want about players choosing to sacrifice money to win... BUT Carmelo DIDN'T. He's getting his max level extension.

Melo can score from anywhere.. Most importantly on the block. In think that makes him more than one dimentional

Melo doesn't play defense. He's also a black-hole in that he's not a 'think-pass' kinda guy. That means he's a scorer. He's not a consistent rebounder. THAT'S ONE DIMENSIONAL.

Lebron is multi-faceted. Elite Defender. Elite Rebounder. Elite Passer. Elite Scorer. Sorry to say but Melo's a consolation prize.
