I hope the Magic CRUSH them tonight...

MIAMI - Dwyane Wade and LeBron James have gotten used to it by now.

It took them little time to realize the Miami Heat would be talked about more for their setbacks than progress. So it’s no surprise they are being picked apart by critics for their struggles against winning teams.

With the Heat set to face a string a playoff contenders, beginning Thursday when they host the Orlando Magic, they would rather focus on their quality wins instead of losses. As James put it, "They just talk about our losses, they don’t talk about our wins."

"Nobody talks about the good ones (wins)," Wade said. "When you lose, all 17 of our losses have been bad losses for us. We’re just going to continue to try to get better here. We’ve got some great games coming up, but we’re going to have to win down the stretch. This is good for us, especially going into the playoffs. I’d rather have it this way than have it where we’re playing teams that are under .500 and it’s hard to motivate yourself every night."

The Heat, who are 12-15 against teams with winning records, will play the next 10 games against opponents that are in postseason contention. Two of those games are against the league-leading San Antonio Spurs. While coach Erik Spoelstra views this an opportunity, he refuses to say the stretch will define the season.

Spoelstra said this simply is a portion of the schedule that begins with the Magic.

"I look at our opponent on Thursday night," Spoelstra said. "That’s all I’m looking for. Look, we’ve proven already we can beat anyone anywhere. Our guys are confident. We have not closed out games the way we had wanted to so we’re going to continue to work on them and work for our breakthrough."

For all the criticism, the Heat could still finish the regular season with the best record in the Eastern Conference. They trail the Boston Celtics [team stats] by one game, and the fact there is still room for improvement gives reason to believe the Heat are within reach of the "next level" Spoelstra has mentioned all season.

"We have a great opportunity in the next few weeks to get to a level where we want to, and that’s consistent basketball," Spoelstra said. "We’re working for that."

It won’t be easy during this stretch. The Heat are just 6-7 against the upcoming opponents, losing twice to the Chicago Bulls and splitting with the Atlanta Hawks. They have yet to play the Spurs and looking to avenge losses to the Denver Nuggets and Memphis Grizzlies.

The most impressive wins were on the road against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers.

"This is just part of the schedule," forward Chris Bosh said. "We plan to win every game when we step out on the court. It’s not a need. It is what it is. We’re going against good teams, and we’re looking forward to going out there and competing and winning them."

Winning close games has been the biggest problem for the Heat. They are just 5-11 in games decided by five points or less. Wade said that has prevented the Heat from being in contention with the Spurs for the league’s best record.
With that said, Wade noticed similar struggles during the 2005-06 season. That team had its problems against elite opponents during the regular season, but making the proper adjustments led to winning the NBA title.

"That’s the difference in us being like the San Antonio Spurs and us being 43-17," Wade said. "It’s one thing, and eventually you figure it out and you change it, and that’s what we were able to do in the late stretch of the playoffs (in 2006)."

i hope the magic beat them too..

heat are 5-11 in games with a difference of 3 points or less.. this tells me they can't finish.. and proves what i've seen in the games i watched. lebron jacking up a brick to end it while wade stands there wide open.

wouldnt it be great if they were a 1st round bust?

Yes it would! It would be up there when the Mavs lost against the Warriors a few years back....

They have the two BEST players in the NBA. They are going to figure it out sooner than later.

They have Amar'e and Melo?
:dunno

:)

Durant and Westbrook are the best duo right now imo.

If Lebron ever gets a post game, it will take his game to a whole nother level. Tim Legler pointed that out, and he made some great points. Even though he hasnt scored much in the post this year, whenever he goes there, teams have doubled him, and it would make the team a lot better in the half court with him being able to pass out to 3 point shooters or just using his strength to get to the basket. The Heat need to put someone in the post to make their half court offense better, at least draw the defense in to pass out to open shooters.

They have the two BEST players in the NBA. .

Thats up for argument. They are also both slashers, which requires the ball.. neither are really spot up shooters so passing to one another is slash slash. Not sure how great they work w/ each other. more like limit each other..

great tandoms usually have different talents and feed off one another.. not slasher/slasher.. Its usually guard/forward or small forward/big scenario for example..

not to mention your coach isn't that great. lame duck.

can't wait to laugh at you post season.. its not hating. just reality and laughing at the goofy heat fan. good times.

see these duos work..

carmelo/ amare. small forward/big

kobe/gasol. guard/big

westbrook/ durant point/multi talented small forward

wade/lebron.. slash slash.. why pass to eachother cause we dont spot up..

my turn your turn= :lol < LOL!!!!

Once again a two-man team, theyre no better than the OKC Thunder. This is a recipe for disaster come playoffs....
