The same situation cropped again for the Heat who after trading away Shaq and losing Wade to injury was awarded a top pick. Of course no one knew how crappy that pick would turn out. :lol
This is why Stern made sure Lebron took his talents there. He had to make up for that crappy pick he gave them.:lol

I mean, yeah you totally make a good point. I don't have an answer for it. Who knows. Obviously Stern's a NY boy and his rival would be Boston, so maybe he told them to suck it. Maybe he didn't appreciate Pitino choosing Boston over NY... Maybe he thought them having 2 picks (including #3) in the top 10 was enough?
You do know Pitino already coached the Knicks once right?

Yeah, thats what I'm saying, maybe Stern thought Pitino should have returned to NY to be Riley's replacement and when he went to Boston instead, Stern said FU. I'm spitballin.

Eh, or the Spurs just won the lottery by chance? plus recently the Success has a lot to do with Parker and Manu, and not so much Duncan. Manu was like a second round pick too. :lol

Yep, and dont forget how great the Spurs organization is for having the foresight to reach into the euro leagues. Although there were euros that made it to the NBA before and had success, the Spurs were the first organization to actively and habitually look into the euro leagues for talent. Heck they even made it chic to have euros on the team.

Very few organizations would give euros the time of day before that. Euros were always seen as raw, lacking in D and soft. They still are to some degree but the Spurs' success had a lot to do with the influx of euros we see today in the NBA.

And of course right after the Spurs were succesful with the euros, the Lakers ran right and started going after euros even after Phil was badmouthing the Spurs for having so many euros on their squad :lol

The Heat won all of 15 games in 2006. They earned that pick, darn it! :rotfl

The worst part is... we had the highest percentage to get 1st pick!

Can you imagine D. Rose playing point on our team instead of Mike Miller (who we signed with the money we saved from trading Michael Beasley)?!?

No one is disputing the fact the Spurs run a great organization and have pretty much maximized all their opportunities. Pretty much model franchise.

The league couldn't sit by and watch local boy Rose go to anywhere except Chicago.

This team makes me sick. I love watching Amar'e stand there watching guys fly past him like he's a lamp post.

Melo sucks. This mutha***** is not from BK, he's from Baltimore. He's got a heart the size of a lima bean.

Chauncey Billups is shooting 30% from the field since joining the Knicks. I think AARP is calling.

D'Antoni is garbage.

Jell? The team needs more time to jell, you say? Fine. But going 0-6 against:

Cavs
Bucks
Pacers

is completely PATHETIC. Regardless of time spent together.

SMFH.

Billips, love him, but yes he is done. He was pretty much blocking Lawson, as benching him in Denver would have been a big no no. But now that he is gone, look how Lawson is practically dominating.

My favorite play of the game was when, with three minutes left, and we're down by 3, a STATUESQUE Stoudamire literally watches as Brandon Jennings runs right by him for a lay-up.

Highlight of my night, it twas.

******* Spurs are pissing me off too...I know their schedule is very tough the remaining season and losing Duncan isnt helping but jeez, play like the possible champions you can be... Playoffs cant come soon enough...

Hmmm.... every team has its struggles.

Billups hit that ridiculous three pointer to beat the Heat in a game they frankly shouldn't have beaten the Heat in.

And the Spurs have been without major injury all season long.

Now the Celtics are sucking ballsacks too.
