The Lakers clearly were the better team with their younger roster being a big part of defeating the older, aging and tiring Spurs. I truly felt that they could not beat the Spurs four times in seven games and I was partially right.... they only needed five games. Lakers management deserves mucho credit for making the changes which got this team to the Finals. Spurs, on the other hand, now need to seriously remake this team and go into a rebuilding mode. It did not help that Ginobli had a bad series and usually plays much better.

They just need a little tweaking.. Their core is fine IMO. Teams like Pho need something major, yet with another 2 years paying Shaq, I'm not sure what they can do. SA is in a good position to revamp a little over the summer. These guys can contend again next year.

Props to LA for sticking to their guns and not breaking this up under major pressure from Kobe, fans and media.. Next year with more seasoning and a true emerging All Star Center we will be alot better.. Scareythought for Laker Haters..

But for how long? Timmy ain't exactly a spring chicken any more. I think they can contend for about two more years before he hangs it up or isn't the player they need him to be in order to contend.

Utah has a great core of young players. If Boozer can stay healthy and AK-47 can play like he did 2-3 years ago, they will be a force for the next 5 years.

To me, the Jazz are just like the Sacramento Kings of the Chris Webber days, a whole lotta talent but NO Closers. I'm not worried about them.

Timmy is only 31, Giniobili is 30 and Parker is 25. Plenty of tread on those tires. The other player's tread however is looking tired.

Remember Kobe is 30 .. All these guys will be around and producing for a long time. Particuarily Tim Duncan as he does not rely on jumping or speed to produce.

They're just inexperienced is all. They'll be in the finals a couple times over the next 5 years.

I just would've liked to see how good the Cavs could have been with James and Boozer

exactly Duncan doesn't rely on his speed or anything. But any way, I do hope Boston makes it to the finals.

Brent Barry on the NBA's acknowledgment yesterday that a foul should have been called in game 4.

"That's awesome, because Doc Brown is waiting for me outside, and we're going to get in the DeLorean and fire up the flux capacitor and we're going to go back and shoot a couple of free throws."
:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

OMFG!!! That might be the funniest statement by a professional athlete ever.

I love Brent Barry. Dude is hilarious.

Yeah, and he's right, the Spurs were screwed, however that doesn't mean they would of won the series.

Spurs were screwed. :rotfl Gimme a break. :lol

Spurs had several chances to win that Game with Refs on their side and they blew it every time. How may free throws did they get handed to them? They were lucky to be in the game in the first place. If you counted every time the Lakers were "screwed" on calls, the last play wouldn't had been a factor.

Much better Crew in game 5, that game was called fairly. :D

Barry is a cool Guy, he kept them in the game. Spurs are a great Team and a classy organization, they just have to replenish their bench and they'll be fine.

Best 09 Western Conference Teams:

Lakers
Jazz
Hornets
Spurs (with proper retooling)
