I haven't always been the biggest Paul Pierce fan. Earlier in his Celtics career he spit at an opponents' bench in a pre season game. Near the end of a play off game, against the Pacers if I remember correctly, he was hit in the jaw and no foul was called. He acted like a baby after the game, sitting at the podium with his jaw wrapped up like he had a broken jaw. I was embarrassed and disgusted. And he had a few run ins with Doc after Doc had taken over as the coach.
He's really come a long way since then. He's definitely grown up. I used to think he was a selfish player but, at this point in his career, he's proven he's a team player and wants to win.
